The press makes it sound like he is a murderer or something. I took my brother from baton rouge to the game and he had a ball except for the heat. He was impressed with Manziel. Them we can home and turned on ESPN and saw what the press is doing to this kid. He just laughed.

How many flags were thrown yesterday for players cursing? ONE! What does that tell you? I do not ever recall a penalty for cursing.

What I am tired of is Joeckel getting no press for 28 points in a half in his first game. Not a word on A&M scoring 52 points when they only had the ball 21 minutes. A rookie punter with a 77 yard punt into the wind. Every time this kid farts that makes the headlines and nothing else.

Don't expect (m)any responses, aggiegreen. You won't receive any.
And don't ask anyone to specifically cite what issues they have w JFF. All you'll get is, "He's a douchebag;" but no one will be able to provide you w a legit reason.
Complete mob.

This says it best: Your opinion about Johnny Manziel tells us more about you than him

The players that jump in front of the cameras, sure yeah they love him. What are they supposed to say? "Yeah we think he's a d bag"

You referenced a Clay Travis article

What about this little contradiction:

quote:

1. If you hate the way Johnny's playing football, you're probably a rules follower.

2. If you love the way Johnny's playing football, you're probably a fan of individual choice at the expense of institutional rules.

aTm is the ULTIMATE rules following institution. Don't walk on the grass, take your hat off in this building, you CAN'T sit down not even at halftime, dress up like a farmer to "yell practice" because we have to make sure we know how to yell tomorrow in case anyone forgot, etc etc I could go on all night

Not to mention you have the F'in Corps of Cadets. Of course I forgot they are all about "individual choice at the expense of institutional rules"

I can understand staying the don't have a problem with him, but LOVE him? Are you seriously making the argument that they are saying they LOVE him because they can't say how they really feel? Get over it.

Good Lord.

I did link a Clay Travis article. I typically enjoy his stuff.

Those aren't rules, they're traditions (which folks can choose to follow or not). And you incorrectly described every one of em.

You could go on all night? I swear I'm not trying to do the juvenile "Why u mad tho?" thing; but you genuinely seem angry. There isn't a school around (apart from my own) that would elicit such an emotional response from me.

BTW ... OP asked about the media. These are the kinds of "journalistic" comments that are currently being floated, almost constantly:

@dennisdoddcbs
Jameis Winston looks like a freshman Heisman winner -- without daddy's money.p

@dennisdoddcbs
It's about time we had a freshman Heisman candidate who doesn't need rims for his C-class.

We've now officially sunk to the point where a 20-yr-old kid is being maliciously maligned on a national level b/c his parents have been financially successful. Most of you despise the kid, but you aren't truly seeing what's being said. It's becoming sick.

Welcome to the US: Where it's a crime to be successful, and where supposed professionals take verbal shots at college athletes.

How? Seriously? I've asked multiple times, and all anyone ever says is "douchebag," but they never offer legit reasons. Or they toss out a false accusation that they read someplace; have that accusation disproven; then they jet from the thread. Crickets.

Meh. I'm done for the night. This stuff is just wrong.

The worst thing he did was walk past Sumlin instead of stopping and looking his coach in the eyes. Rice was chirping at him all half. It will get worse in SEC play. He has to ignore.

Call a spade a spade. The dude can flat out play, but he is a douche. Does he need to be found guilty of douchebaggery in a court of law, to be called a douche? If you think this kid is a victim in any of this, you're a bigger douche than he is.

I didn't see what he did that was so awful. He was talking some trash to a D-lineman and went overboard. Some dudes talk trash every single play even when they get burned. And they usually don't get flagged. He deserved to get flagged though.

Now, he should've backed off because he was already suspended for for autograph-gate. But to me, even that's much about nothing in the grand scheme of things. He's probably hearing trash after every play from opposing players. He can't let it get the best of him.

I agree that walking past the coach was about the worst thing he did, but that's fairly common because nobody wants to get chewed out on national tv even when they deserve it.
