Does not change a loss. LSU will still have 1 loss on our record if Auburn is forced to vacate wins.

makes no sense. How does one team get a loss if the other doesn't get a win

But if Auburn is somehow held out of the SEC title game and Lsu goes even with one loss, Lsu will be in the driver's seat to the BCS title game. Much like Bama would've been had they beat Lsu.

Correct. I think people are confusing a vacated win eith a forfeit. They aren't being charged with a loss, only changing the record books to reflect less wins. I realize that this could be confusing, but it's the rule

I don't think anyone is confusing the two - It means LSU is in the lead in the West allowing them to go to SECCG - if they win out and - - possible BCSCG

If the sanctions come during the season, and Newton is deemed retroactively ineligible, it is a forfeit.

If the sanctions come after the season, it is merely a vacated win.

I disagree, (if all of this is true and Auburn must vacate their wins to be 0-12), They will def take away the losses. They arn't gonna GIVE LSU a win out of that , just vacate the loss. It's the only fair way to do it if they were playing an ineligible player.

Bsically that game never happened since it became an unsanctioned NCAA event with ineligible participents who were incorrectly allowed to participate.

Not that this would really happen, but if they hypothetically made this ruling before the final standings come out, I have no clue how the voters and BCS and everybody else would treat LSU in relation to the game being nullified.

Whatever happens, It would be very very interesting to see if that actually came about during the season.

Right, so if Auburn is given less wins including a win at the time over LSU, how could we still be charged with the loss?

We agree that LSU wouldn't be given an extra win for the Auburn game. Just that LSU wouldn't be charged with an L on their record. Basically the game never happened either way.

(Assuming LSU were to win out)

Before ruling on sanction: 11-1
After ruling on sanction: 11-0

Not saying we are given another win just losing the loss for not playing a real game that day.
