Gators would’ve scored the next play or tied it on 4th down anyways, but the Vol melt was stupendous

I'm surprised Tennessee approved him to officiate the game or that the SEC sent a Vandy guy to do that game. In 1981 on the last play of the game Matthews was basically tackled with a Vandy pass in the air near the Tennessee goal line. This was the last year of the NCAA spot foul on pass interference--like the NFL presently has in place. Untimed down on the UT 3 down 38-34,who knows? Nope,incomplete pass.

we were sitting in Tiger Stadium getting ready for Florida and Spurrier to bea the brakes off of LSU in game 2 of CBS's double header that day.
