And for the record, the probation being referred to also included a cover up AND $24,400 paid to players, primarily as signing bonuses and other payments (two players only).

Autos are the hardest thing for players to get away with a violation due to the vetting of them by all universities and compliance.
I can tell you for a fact this is not the case. I know players who got cars, specifically set up by coaches, not boosters. I know a player who used to walk into a dealer, grab a set of keys, drive the car till it ran out of gas or got dirty and then repeated, but no one saw a thing at the dealership. (Second half of statement not SEC, first is, neither UA or AU though)

I don't think it's Saban. It's more the boosters I'm sure. Truth is, what could he do about it? I'm naive enough to think Cam didn't get something from boosters at AU but, I just can't see anyone forking out that kinda cash to an unproven player.
It's easy to look at it near the end of the season and say "oh yea, he's worth that much", but people aren't thinking of the fact this was supposedly before he went to Auburn, when no one thought twice about Cam Newton. I remember people on here trashing our new QB during the MSU game thread in 2010. I think most of the hate bama gets from AU fans about cheating def comes from how we constantly had to hear about AU buying a title when nothing came of it WITH an investigation. If the NCAA spends a year in UA and nothing comes of it, I for one, would let it go. The prob is it sure seems like the NCAA has given up. I'm actually glad the did go after AU because that speaks louder than any message board allegation the fans throw up.

Why would the NFL be a party to an agent/player contract?

As to whether that is what really happened or not on the napkin? I don't know, that's just the story I've always heard. I was only pointing out you posted the NCAA said there was a signed witnessed contract as evidence that it wasn't a napkin contract, but what the NCAA said doesn't prevent that contract from being one of the napkin variety.
They sent in a contract that he was going to declare on top of the agent contract.

Agree with all of this.

I agree with you, and I don't know how fans ignore this at their schools. Anyone who has gone to school at an SEC school and knows what cars the players drive, should have been able to see it must be fairly easy to get an athlete a car.

I don't know why Bama fans even agrue in this thread. Who cares if UA cheats. Step your shite up other schools.

I think most of the Means deal was to have another HS coach on the payroll of the boosters and not just getting Means,

Not sure if it's impressive or weird.
They do seem to have knowledge that no other fanbase possesses. To them every Bama player ever signed had $0 before coming to Bama and then all of a sudden begins living like a king. They also have a fascination with player's cars. I guess every Auburn player drives a pinto or a motor scooter. They actually think Bama's compliance department doesn't require documentation on who owns the car, who is making payments, where it came from, etc.

Serious question, did you play college football and/or were you on part of a college coaching staff or something. You seem to know intimate details of all the shady stuff going down all over the place.

This is about where I am. Bama has led college football in cheating for a long time. Under saban it has gotten to the point where they really do not give a frick anymore (I can only assume because saban does not give a frick and just wants to win). The NCAA appears to be a shell of themselves, walking on eggshells and only giving a small frick since Miami and their stupidity in going apeshit on PSU (which they would lose horribly on antitrust violations if PSU ever wanted to sue for treble damages).
So, I think a lot of major programs are watching this bama situation and prepping their slush funds, atm machines, and bagmen because if nothing happens it is fricking GO TIME in a big way IMO.

A Bama booster forked over $100K for a jackwagon DE who hardly played a down...I reckon Auburn got a bargin paying Cam only $180K

Yep, which was proven and that was 15 years ago.
Can you imagine what bama is paying now? Bama ain't fricking around, I can promise you that. Other schools are gonna have to not frick around either if that is the way things are going to be working now.
