Thought this would be an interesting read. For those that have ventured into the recent SC / UGA fans you'll find the Gamecocks predicting a pretty gloomy outcome whereas the UGA fans expect to win, but are timid in calling for a blowout.

This is a pretty good indicator as to why. Essentially, over the last 20 years UGA has brought in teams that are far superior to SC but always seem to struggle. Even in wins, UGA has just had a hard time putting points on the board.

quote:

Since that night, nine Georgia teams have ventured into Williams-Brice Stadium. Seven of them won bowl games. Two won the Eastern division crown. One finished as champion of the SEC.

But none scored 21 points.

Georgia has scored 41, 42, and 41 in the last three border showdowns held in Sanford Stadium.

The last three in Williams-Brice?

14, 6, and 7.

The list of Bulldogs who have not broken the 20-point barrier in Columbia is astounding. Among them are Champ Bailey, Orson Charles, Knowshon Moreno, Matthew Stafford, David Greene and A.J. Green.

LINK

Why is this relevant? Well because most of the SECers, myself, Dawgs, and 'Cocks alike think UGA will score fairly easily. This is about the only thing that gives me hope.

I agree with you. Fwiw

But I think Georgia wins a close one. Low scoring, though.

I think our players get distracted by that rooster crowing. But yes. This sums it up nicely.

Past performance is not an indicator of future performance tho. Do you even Finance 101?

Yet you guys bring up series history like a motherfricker. Of course this has no indication on how the game will go.

It's fun to talk about.

Our fans have brought it up more than SCAR's fans from what I've seen. I still think we put up at least 35, only because our running backs are phenomenal

Boy, if everyone could forget about SC's football history that would be terrific.

I've not seen one UGA fan outside of the eternal sunshine pumper known as Firewind who predicts a high scoring game.

Pretty much, actually.

As optimistic as I'm being, I don't predict a win for South Carolina. I just think we'll play better.

To add to the thread the 2002 UGA-SC game is on the SECN now. Which reminds me of our own heartbreak vs UGA.

In 2002, 2006, and 2008 we fumbled on the goal line. We lost 13-7 in '02 and 14-7 in '08.

Also in 2009 in Athens where we lost 41-37. I think we were inside the 10 with a minute or so left, we had a turnover on downs with when Garcia threw an incomplete pass.. the worst part is our RB was wide open.. if only Garcia had turned left.
