That may be a fair but im not concerned about the titling. I contend the expansion to four was simply increasing the field (doubling it) to prevent an error of omitting the best two teams. Not to necessarily find the 4th best team. Yes they want the best possible four but they nearly guarantee having 1 and 2. So playoff v invitational??

In the history of the college football playoff, the 4th and last seed has won 50% of the time. That seems like decent support the true best team may be getting left out with only 4 selections

2015 Alabama vs. Ohio State would've been very juicy.

That OSU team was stacked and was probably the only team that hasn't made the playoff that would've been a serious contender to win it.
