And yes. An 8 team playoff is the optimum number.

Sure, more meaningful games. I am all about more football, but I will say it will not change the controversy. Instead of debating number 4 we will debate number 8.

I used to be for at least an 8 team playoff, but no more. Don’t care much for Fox Sports CFB coverage, but Joe Klatt made an excellent point about a playoff expansion guaranteeing conference champions a spot in the CFP, thus making the OOC games meaningless.
Having 4-loss teams in the CFP simply because they won their respective conferences is ludicrous, if not idiotic.

Dumb.
It makes every P5 and small conference champion an automatic entry into the playoff regardless of record, eliminating any regular season relevance outside the SEC. You’ll have a 9-4 Tennessee in with a 13-0 Ohio State and 12-1 USCw.
Would be so whack.

Possibly. Who would be the 8 teams: P5 conf. winners & _____? Top 8 overall? Something else?
