Is OBJ counted? Think he is pretty OK?

Was he a Rivals 5 star?

I understand it was probably time consuming and mind numbing to try and put this together, but you are dead wrong on this one. He's been an excellent player and he'll go in the top 3 rounds.

The only All SEC list he ever made was a PRE SEASON All SEC list. His collegiate career was a bust.

Beg to differ on Spencer Ware. He was a really good RB, it's just that CLM has always spread the wealth at RB.

He certainly wasn't bad, but he is your classic 5 star bust. A guy coming out of high school as an elite star who ends up making little to nothing in the NFL.

Interesting to see some of those names again. Can't help but feel sorry for those guys who are projected 5 stars, have NFL dreams, and then never see the field.

That's why I made the list...mostly out of curiosity for myself. It's incredible how even the most elite of high school players still have about a 50% shot at making any real NFL money. Yet I guarantee you virtually none of them understand that.

When I played in high school I was amazed at the volume of recruiting material some of my teammates got without any payoff. We didn't have a single guy go FBS, but by the end of my senior season we'd had people receive letters from every SEC school. We even got a visit from Hugh Freeze during his tenure at Arkansas State. Some guys got free tickets, and then weren't even invited to walk on anywhere. So if that was the kind of attention these guys were getting, imagine what it's like to be a 5 star. You get so lauded all the time. Then to get to college and never cut it must be heartbreaking.

Spencer Ware 10: mostly bust (decent college career, 6th rounder and then released)

Spencer Ware was not a bust. He was a very good RB at LSU. He was released due to injury not poor performance.

Also, it is worth noting that Spencer Ware recently signed a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. So he is an NFL player once more.

You say this
quote:

NFL bust based on his 1st round selection? Absolutely. But this is a list to evaluate college careers, how well their college

Then use this
quote:

quote: Beg to differ on Spencer Ware. He was a really good RB, it's just that CLM has always spread the wealth at RB.

Tebow a bust? Depends on which standards you want to use. Is it college, or NFL careers?

Nice list but this is the Srant so it's going to get picked apart.

Dude, the star system is a rating system for the transition from high school to the college. It is not a rating system for predicting which high school players will be successful in the NFL.

5-star means: A can't miss prospect AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL. That's it.

It is hard to call Coleman a bust given his circumstances. I hope he overcomes and goes on to be a great one.

LSU has probably had more 3* and 4* booms than any other school in all of CFB.
Would you update the list to include all of these "booms" Les and his staff evaluated, recruited and developed over the same time period?

Odell Beckham, Jeremy Hill, Ego Ferguson, Trai Turner, Kiki Mingo, Eric Reid, Kevin Minter, Bennie Logan, Tyrann Mathieu, Morris Claiborne and Michael Brockers would all qualify as major "booms" that were all 3* and 4* rated players that were developed into 5* players on the field by Les and his staff.

No. I will not update the list to include all 3 and 4 star players in the SEC. Would you like to?

The list of 3* and 4* players from LSU blows away the list of 5* players from bama and any other school.

Of course you don't want to do that.

Jadeveon Clowney 11: boom: college star and #1 pick

As a Texans fan I wouldn't be so quick to call him a success. Seems to be somewhat lazy and rode the pine all year. Could have played more but nursing his knee. JJ Watt was optimistic about him early but really has not said much about him for a while.
Sure would be nice to have him succeed and have him help Watt,Mercilus and Cushing.

No shite it would. Because that would be comparing something like 75 players to 7 or 8. If I only cherry picked the best 3 and 4 stars from bama they would beat the 5 stars from bama.

This is not a Bama v. LSU thread dude. Why are you acting so insecure and uneducated?

Like I said, make us a list of every 3 and 4 star player in the SEC from the 2008-2012 signing class and summarize their career. I'm not about to spend the next 72 hours doing that.

Clowney lived up to his 5 star status regardless of what he does in the NFL.

Craig Loston was not a bust - solid two year starter in the SEC who is now on the active roster of an NFL team.

Especially if you rate Ronald Powell as a "somewhat boom" in the same list.

I appreciate you compiling the list. Looking over some of the names just makes you scratch your head with the talent that was squandered.

Russel Shepard 09: total bust

He has been in the NFL since he left LSU. He is undoubtedly a bust, I just find it strange that he has made an NFL team every year.
