But too bad for y'all Sefton is going to declare for the draft, which will set y'all back as far as building experience and chemistry as a team.

Him being yalls PG means it'll mess up the chemistry more than any other position too.
Pearl's decision to start Jared Harper over Ronnie Johnson right out of rhe gate last year is paying hige dividends this season IMO. Ronnie Johnson was a grad transfer from Purdue with tons of high level P5 starting experience, a very talented and good PG. Ronnie Johnson honestly was probably one of the best PGs Auburn has had in the last decade, but making Harper the guy built tons of chemistry for us as a whole team, and it allowed Harper to build the confidence, and become the floor general and team leader that a PG needs to be to have an elite team.

Who will even be yalls PG next season without Sexton? Avery Jr?

Avery Jr will be done after this year

as far as who's playing point, it's up in the air. Dazon could fill a bigger role.

I'm really liking the development by Reese and Herb. Herb is up and down, but the guy is really great on d and can be a spark plug.

Our team is on the uptrend compared to the past couple of years, again comparing yourself to the best Auburn team in the past 20 years is the wrong way to look at it

this is an Alabama team that can end the tournament drought and a lot of young players are getting minutes

I was the leader of the Avery Jr Sucks Arse club for 2 years, but he's been really good since the Florida game.

He's still not a great player, but he's given us solid minutes against UF, UT, UK and now Auburn.

Yea - but I honestly think it would be a bigger blow if Hall left

I actually was meaning to ask if you thought there was a chance that Hall or even Petty follows Sexton and declares?

and possibly Herb some. Herb is raw and young but he's shown really good court vision and ability to read things from the top on pick and roll action.

I thought Herb was a 2 guard, maybe even a 2/3 combo if needed. I mean, isn't he like 6'7"?

I honestly have no clue if they do. You know how those things go. There hasn't really been any smoke on either one of them, so I don't think either has really talked about it to anyone.

Obviously Petty shouldn't, that seems pretty clear. It'd be a disaster on his part. He's not an elite enough shooter to stick around and the rest of his game is nowhere near ready. I'm not even sure he'd get a camp invite. I would honestly be shocked if he left.

Hall is more complex. He has some NBA skills right now, but he doesn't really fit a NBA position with his current skillset. A guy like him that can't shoot 16 footers is not going to find many roster spots available. My hope is that Avery convinces him that if he returns, develops a nice like pick and pop game and puts mid-range tape out there that his odds of getting a 2nd contract are much, much better. And I think it's something he can do. He was a decent shooter this year before his broke his wrist. But, he's a 3rd year player who will have people telling him he is a NBA player. And he would probably bounce around the G-League/NBA for the first few years. If he kept developing he'd get a shot for a full-time gig a lot like Jamychal Green did. But he's not there now.

He's a 2/3 combo guy. Him running the point would be a total hybrid thing, but he has a unique skillset. He's run the point in short spurts this year and been really smooth at it. I'm not sure he handles the ball on the floor well enough to do it, though.

team of less talented players

Idk why people keep thinking Auburn has untalented players. Jared Harper, Davion Mitchell, Horace Spencer, and Chuma Okeke were all top rated 4* players. McLemore was also a 4* player just not as highly rated as the rest. Heron was a 5* player. It's not like Auburn is doing this with a bunch of scrubs.

Yea, I don't either. Auburn has recruited as well as anyone in conference, as a collective, not named Kentucky the last 4 years.

Are saying that you think Alex Reese might play some PG next season?
I thought Herb Jones was an interesting option as a 6'7" SG, and you know Bama better than I do so want argue with you, but playing the 6'10" 240 PF Alex Reese at PG just doesn't seem like a great idea

I remember 2 years ago when like tonight Auburn was down to only 7 scholarship players for the last few weeks of SEC play, but our roster was much much much kess talented than it is this year, almost no guard talent to speak of, and we were actually forced to give Cinmeon Bowers minutes at PG in several games. If you don't remember Bowers, he was a chubby 6'8" 280 pound center who was a beast in the paint, but had very little outside game to speak of. As you can imagine, it was a disaster

To be fair, 1999 was only 19 years ago and that team had a better record and higher ranking at this point. That team also had a 7 foot tall center that was a 1st round NBA draft pick, and I was in elementary school at the time so my memory is hazy, but I doubt the 99 team was ever as thin depth wise as we are right now.

Holy shite I forgot about that. The best was he'd make a 3 and then decide he was going to go ham from deep for the next 6 minutes.

You guys are seriously underrating Auburn even without McLemore and Heron. If you don’t play your A game against Auburn you will lose, simple as that.
