quote:Add Sark to that list, I was among the Longhorns a bit underwhelmed at the news of his hire. Sure he did a fantastic job creating an offense that got a WR the Heisman, but he he didn't exactly set the world on fire at his previous two head coaching jobs. (Although you could say he burned down USCw)
I'll agree with this.
Usually the hires that seem like homeruns rarely meet expectations. There are way more Rich Rod's at Michigan that don't turn out.
Looking back some of the best hires over the last several years were not sexy at first. Heupel, Elko, Lanning... etc. I don't remember Ohio State being excited about Day.
If I were Florida, I'd hire Scotty Walden at UTEP. He's going to be a big time coach somewhere.

Interesting. Florida seems to drop off about twenty years ago…you wouldn’t cherry pick the only timeframe there ever relevant in college football, would you?
Let’s removed 1995-2005 and see how you do.

UF’s first SEC championship wasn’t until 1989.

There's a direct correlation to recruiting rankings and on the field success. If you can't see that you are blind. Yes there are misses but the majority of them hit.

You are forgetting the Spurrier years as well.

If tweet fails to load, click here. This is an old tweet but free agency in conjunction with high school recruiting is the new standard. If you overpay for high school kids to win the 5 star undeveloped battle you will still lose on the field.

Again you don't get it. This is the new College football due to NIL and the new transfer rule change. You got to start from that point on. Not counting the past that didn't have NIL and the transfer rule change. Indiana, Mizzou, Ole Miss and others are now able to compete with the top football programs.

I didn't say shite about NIL. I was just pointing out that Ole Miss has never been to the SECCG.

Trust me. I am not forgetting the years before the current players were born. Spurrier is as relevant as Vaught.

This is why Michigan sucks again. Paid 12 mil to Underwood. And they are already at two losses. Their coach sucks arse too though. You need to pay for experience laden players mainly and then what you got left to the young pups
