Kirby’s “comment” you cite and that I’ve seen is standard crisis management drawn up by a UGA attorney. Both of us know that is not what a real leader would settle for or hide behind.
Standard crisis mgmt, you say? Exactly. This is how these things are handled, and should be. There is a reason why too.
One can be an effective leader without having an unnecessary, and rather pointless anal probing press conference with sensationalist journalists.
Contrary to your irrational fears, Your degree hasnt lost an ounce of value under the Kirby regime, just like it didnt with Harrick or Richt.
Of all the unreasonable takes on this subject, yours is up there.

Will keep it simple: UGA football has a player entitlement and enablement culture problem. Kirby is not demonstrating accountability and character leadership in failing to acknowledge what is now a pattern. Both of those things cite a problem with the football program.
Litigation of any kind against or concerning interfwined parts of a University is reputationally damaging. Character failings of those in charge is an even bigger black eye. Period.
This is bigger than fans’ desire for football. There are a number of guys we know, and likely more within the program and on the sidelines, that don’t deserve to play for, or oversee, the Bulldogs.

FB players getting into trouble is NOT a new thing in the amazing party town of Athens GA. It comes with the territory.

Its unreasonable to demand this type of press conference as leading and acknowledging can be done behind closed doors speaking to the people that truly matter, which damn sure isnt your whining arse.

If so, its a normal group of 100+ CFB players.

And you can bet your arse it did. Here’s an example: UBS in NYC dropped UGA as a “new outreach” school following the reputational focus of the school’s recently employed new alumni became increasingly on athletics over academics over the past 6 years. Basically UGA grads we’re acting like a bunch of bro’s vs. their UNC, Vandy, FL, SMU, and A&M peers as football identity increased (accompanying the on-field success).
That attitude, embodied by some of the most ambitious and smartest students who should care nothing about athletic prowess (as they’re going to a place where people could care less about college sports), is exemplary of how the school’s populace sees itself: winning in football, at any cost it could now seem to appear, trumps pride in a high-quality education. Critically also, the education/pride dynamic is self-reinforcing). And thusly goes others’ impressions: lower.

Don’t be a dumbass. Drunk driving and racing with multiple players and UGA program staffers in a University vehicle (100 mph!! 100. Weaving across all 5 lanes and other cars on the road with BAC’s 2x legal limit), by some of the most high profile players on the team, including the potential #1 pick in the NFL draft, and that following a number of racing and evading police tickets/warrants by the same and other players, in addition to rape charges on last year’s best player, in addition to those same high-profile players, some of whom with multi-million $ on the line, going to strip clubs with UGA staffers, and in addition to THAT domestic altercations (in a DORM ROOM) by a brand new transfer player (and yes I read the report and think the felony charge itself is an overreach), nevertheless is VERY different than a bunch of parking boots and scooter tickets for driving with an expired license, or smoking weed in 2005, or selling your SECCG ring, or even stealing a laptop from your neighbor’s dorm room.
The latter is truly youthful stupidity and impulse, the former all are serious indictments of character and personal responsibility as a result of enablement and entitlement.

So NOT an example of the value of your degree getting screwed over by football players getting into trouble.
Try again.

You’ve missed my entire point:
Football player criminality, caused by football player entitlement and enablement, caused by enabling administrators and misplaced priorities, creates University reputational damage, creates a win at all costs reputation, creates alumni with misplaced priorities on winning at any cost over a sterling institutional reputation, creates in others a diminished view of a generic UGA graduate, and ultimately creates a conditioned bias by any person on the connection between my alma mater and my own intellect and priorities.
And to put a fine point on it, you’re proving the accuracy of that bias to the letter. With you walking around thinking what you do, you’re the person that others look down their nose at, and which ultimately reflects poorly on me.

Of course you would have a lame response to my post. You have nothing credible to say.

This is quite the reach.
Under Richt, we had DUI's, speeding tickets, guns, assaults', and players also went to Toppers. Its simply not a new phenomenon for UGA players to get into trouble and enjoy naked women.
You are wrong to claim otherwise, and you arent going to regain your credibility with takes like this.
If anything makes UGA grads suddenly act a fool, its the WINNING NATIONAL TITLES, which is new.

Nope. You are just being irrational.

You might want to watch your run-on sentences.

If he was following the other vehicle, it was because he wanted to follow the other vehicle. In that situation, it would be possible (I doubt the power lines cross the road there, but I don't know).
If they were side by side at the time of the accident, he would have been hundreds of feet ahead before anything like that would have occurred.
It wouldn't shock me if he left them in the dust and didn't see anything (because he could if he wanted to at any time).
Dude are you trying to sell us a fricking jeep? Why do you keep mentioning is the significant power difference between the 2 vehicles and how jalen carter was simply allowong them to not be "dusted".

The accusation is "racing".
The quotes from the AJC don't make sense (he was far enough behind the rental to see the taillights)
If the rental vehicle is "racing" versus Jalen, Jalen's position in the race "should" be way ahead.
If you've ever driven a vehicle with comparable horsepower, you would understand.
Maybe Jalen allowed the van a 1/4 mile head start. But the quotes from the AJC don't add any clarity to the story.

I think you're a plant.
You want him fired if he doesn't speak?
He owes the media and fans nothing. He owes the team everything, and that's where he'll speak, in front of the team, behind closed door.
frick the AJC, frick the media at large, and frick you for using this to further your agenda of wanting to see UGA not be a national power in athletics.

You should be ashamed of yourself as an alum.

Jurassic Park, great movie.
Definitely have a diminished view of Kirby as a person I respect and his capabilities as a leader of men through this so far, but it’s started to feel for a while we’ve embraced the “win at all costs” mentality.
Here are facts: Kirby remains an excellent amasser of talent and winner of games. He’s never been very tolerant of the media or balancing the school’s competing priorities for their athletics program.
You’re exactly the type of toxic leech the program needs less of

I’m not even going to ask why. But this indicates you never played any type of competitive team sports after the 5th grade. You’re probably a political science major. You also likely voted for HRC because you don’t believe in individual accountability, any problems in your life are because of others.
