Really has nothing to do with you claiming OU was never in the SWC.

Softball semifinals today are all former SWC members.

She just lost to Arkansas 6-1 and all the runs were unearned. Here was her line in the box score.

Arkansas scored all their runs on 2 at bats.

-Arkansas 4th Wyckoff reached on a fielder's choice, advanced to third on the throw (1-1 SB)3a Ellis scored, unearned3a Kramer scored on a throwing error by c, unearned.

-Arkansas 7th Kramer homered to right center, 4 RBI, unearned (0-0)3a Johnson, Rea scored, unearned3a Davison scored, unearned3a Carter, Ava scored, unearned.

Hey bigD, you are usually pretty gracious to explain things to morons like me. The box score of the game agrees with you that all the runs were unearned. I don't understand how Kramer's homer wasn't an earned run? I mean, I get the other three that were on the bases, but if someone gets up and goes yard, why isn't that earned? I'll hang up and listen, thx.

In baseball or softball…if there is an error that causes the inning to be extended, say with 2 outs. Every run that scores after that point is unearned.

Meaning that it wasn’t the pitchers fault that the inning did not end. Therefore, after that point, a team could put up 100 runs and they would all be unearned runs.

That batter should’ve never come to bat due to the original error that allowed the inning to be extended. So had that error not occurred, that plate appearance would not have happened. Therefore it isn’t counted in the pitchers earned runs.

Yep HE is correct as usual.

The inning should have been over, therefore unearned. I understand that it is silly for a home run to be unearned, but extending an inning can cause a pitcher to tire and not be as crisp as if she had faced her in the next inning after resting for a half inning.

A&M got hosed. a rain out likely cost them a share of the conf title, and trisha ford at least co coach of year.

I don't think they got hosed. Nothing you can do about the weather.

OU has no pitching beyond Sam Landry. She better be able to pitch every game in the post season or the Sooners are done.

The offense will have to carry them when Sam isn't pitching, more often than not anyway. Smith, Deal and Lowry have their good days, but they sure have a lot of bad ones too.

This is a thumping so far. Arkansas' bats are on fire, but our non-Landrys are having another of their bad days.

Could be the first run-rule loss in a decade.

...and the announcers just mentioned the possibility as well.
