2021 SECRant Power Rankings - Week 2 Results

Happy Friday, everyone! Here are the results from the Week 2 PR Polls. There really isn't much difference between the two right now, except that tRant seems to be much higher on Arkansas than the PR Board - Arkansas is ranked 5th according to the Community Poll, whereas they're ranked 8th in the PR Poll. Who do you think got it right? Leave your thoughts below!

South Carolina Fan - Gamecocks won in Greenville 20-17 over ECU on a FG as time expired. Pirates scored on the first play of the game with a 75 yard TD pass by their RB on a trick play. USC defense held ECU to just 188 yards on 62 plays the rest of game. Carolina trailed 14-0 through the first 29 minutes of the game but outscored ECU 20-3 over the final 31 minutes to move to 2-0 under Beamer. - next game UGA in Athens

Georgia Fan - Week 2 played out somewhat as expected. The big surprise was the loss of J.T. Daniels and how Stetson Bennett didn't skip a beat, but lit up UAB for 5 TDs, tying a UGA school record. Our offense started clicking and got some much needed reps following a defensive struggle against Clemson in week 1. The defense continued its dominance, overpowering a UAB team that was hoping to catch Georgia sleeping, but instead found us wide awake and ready to play. Week 3 will feature the Dawgs and former South Carolina head coach, Will Muschamp, going up against his former team, who barely squeaked by an 0-2 ECU team in week 2. I expect Georgia to win by double digits with either J.T. Daniels or Stetson Bennett at the helm, and the new "Junkyard Dawgs" giving the Gamecocks' offense fits until the last whistle blows.

Texas A&M - A&M lost their starting QB, couldn't get push vs a mid-tier Pac 12 team, and needed to squeak out a late 4th quarter victory on the road. On the flip side, the defense is legit. The Ags will regroup vs New Mexico and try to figure out its offensive identity before heading to Arlington for the Southwest Classic.

Alabama defeated the Mercer Bears 48-14. The game was never in doubt, but something about the Tide's offense looked "off." They better get it figured out quickly because they travel down to Gainesville this weekend to take on the Florida Gators.

Well... with 4'9" Stetson Bennett at the helm, all the Bulldawgs did against an upper tier G5 program was open up the offense to full throttle. Bennett ties school record with 5 passing TDs and at one point had near quadruple digit passer rating during the game. JTD is still the unquestioned starter for this team, but great to see that Stetson is able to stand in and more than deliver if needed... Just would prefer it not be against a Bama team that has a full week to prepare to bat down all of his balls. Still some questions with the OL play that I think need to get answered. If we sort out run blocking and the optimal mix I'll be happy, but thus far, color me mildly concerned with Matt Luke's preparation of that group. Monken somehow calling winning plays despite some significant deficiencies there still. This week we get the Gamecocks at home to open SEC play. They've rated worst in pass pro in the SEC to date... Not sure if Luke Doty has been or will be cleared, but he might elect

Florida doesn't have a QB controversy. Everyone in the world thinks AR15 should start. That is, everyone except Mullen. Hopefully his bizarre antics doesn't cost him the locker room. Defense is better than last year, but still suspect, and the offense is about as physical as I can remember, which is stunning after how soft they had been for a couple of years. If they can limit mistakes, I think they have a shot against Alabama, but I don't think they will outscore them. This should be at least a good benchmark of where UF is right now.

Aggie D is big, bad and refuses to go down. Backup qb was thrown into the fire and hopefully comes out tougher and ready for the rest of season. Tough win on the road and how well the backup qb gets ready for full time action will determine our fate.

Ole Miss - Whipped up on some Governor arse. Have a much tougher test with Tulane coming to town next week. They can score points with the best of them, so our defense will need to play its best game of the young season. Corral and co. will score, and I think we will win. By how much? ps, i got no problem with our #5 ranking, but I do think Calzada will be recognized at end of year as one of best QBs in conference.

I'm an Aggie fan and had us at 7. Auburn, Arkansas, and Ole Miss have looked better than us so far. Simple as that.
It's early so could change this week but anyone who has the Aggies above those 3 is basing it on last year.
