As long as Saban is drawing a breath, Alabama is the team to beat.

This will be Saban’s worst year since his first at Alabama. 2010 was an off year for him , but I expect 3 total losses this year due to the lack of experience. It’s the least overall experience he has had since 2010, especially at Oline. Add a new coordinator, quarterback, running back and two receivers and you have the makings of an office that will have trouble converting third downs and extending drives.

I don't remember Auburn's talent level being as low as it is now, especially on offense. Gus left the cupboard bare.

This just isn't true. From a pure talent standpoint we are behind Alabama, Georgia, and LSU, and about even with Texas A&M and Florida. We are 11th in the blue chip ratio, and about right where we have been for the past decade. We have an All-American talent at RB, a former 5 Star QB, and 4 star talent across the board at WR. On the defensive side of the ball we have 2 All-SEC talent linebackers and secondary loaded with 3-5 future NFL guys.

Will the O-line gel at all this year, and will Nix start playing more consistently are the real questions? These were almost guaranteed "No's" under the old staff, at least it is a question mark with the new staff. I could see us slipping up against a team that we should beat, but I could also see us winning at A&M or at LSU; neither of those are unwinnable for Auburn. But there is definitely enough talent on this team to compete with most of the SEC, except for maybe Alabama and UGA. The question is, do you think there are more let downs the first year as Harsin continues to change the culture within the program, or is this exactly the change we needed to unleash some of the talent that had been under-utilized and under-developed by Malzahn?

We're worlds above where we were in 1998/99. Those teams were Vandy level bad as far as talent goes.

And Tubs was not a great recruiter. Had top 10 classes in '01 and '07 but not much else. Finished in the middle of the pack in the SEC in all but those two years as well.

West—Ole Miss is the team to beat. LSU is the surprise/ unknown variable. Alabama loses 2 and A&M loses 3-4. Tough to win in this league with a QB who has not taken a meaningful snap. On top of that both Alabama and A&M have new O lines and WRs. Bama has a new RB too.

The A&M O line carried that team last year. Lots of returning RB talent for the Aggies, but I see third and longs in their future. Going to be tough for a young Oline and QB to convert those.

Alabama is in a similar situation. Mac finished most games without getting his uniform dirty. The bulk of his Oline had 30 plus starts. Lots of third downs will have to be converted by a very young QB who returns 1 WR.

Ole Miss has most of its key personnel back. They can score a lot and score fast. The defense has to be better than last years. They will score 40 plus a game. I don’t see A&M or Auburn out scoring OM. If they win a big one early , they will be dangerous.

Some very close predictions in there.
