Was an argument it was the best until this year. 2019 LSU wasn’t a point of comparison prior

They beat the top four teams in The Associated Press preseason poll — Clemson, Alabama, Georgia and Oklahoma — by an average of 21 points, all away from home.
This is the most impressive fact of them all. Just incredible.

What would Georgia fans know about great teams?

Best season, yeah
Best team, no
72 Dolphins had the best season, not even close to the best team. There is a difference between the two

Best offense yes.
Best team. No. Defense would get shite on by a lot of team past and present.
LSU played the final #2, #4 and #6 scoring offenses. LSU's D held them under their scoring average by a combined 46 points.
On defense, LSU played the final #1, #3 and #7 scoring defenses and LSU's offense put up a combined 81 points more than those team's averaged giving up per game. It's all subjective, but it's likely that LSU would have shite on defensive teams in the past like they did in the present since they didn't have any off games in the post-season and destroyed what was supposed to be the best defenses.

UFs offense with their worst OL in years with a backup QB who hasnt started a game since MS went up in down the field on that defense most if the game.
Not even close to an all time great defense.
Again, season yes, team no

Yet the held the #2 scoring offense (Alabama) to 6.2 points below their scoring average in the GOTC 2.
Yet they held Georgia to 20.8 points less than their scoring average in the SEC Championship game.
Yet they held the #6 offense (Oklahoma) to 14.1 less than their scoring average in the CFP semi-final.
Yet they held the #4 scoring offense (Clemson) to 18.9 below their scoring average in the CFP Championship.
....all on the road with championship on the line.

Are we really still calling him your backup?
That just makes Merlins look like more of a moron than he already is.

No one said LSU had anything close to an all-time great defense, but when it mattered most, they did damn good against the best offenses in the country. LSU's defense was banged up for most of the 1st half of the season with 3-4 starters not starting or playing in most games. They did what they needed to though and the offense was so great that it didn't matter. LSU's offense scored 42 points against UF in just 21 minutes of offensive possessions (and completed 87.5% of its passes - the highest UF has given up in program history). I can't recall a more flawless offensive performance against a top 10 defense. And by the end of the season the LSU D was holding the best offenses to really low scoring outputs compared to their regular averages. That combo was was clearly tough to beat by that point and the playoff teams did not come close.

LSU's defense actually only gave up 34. Waddle had the awesome punt return TD.

You’d think the greatest team ever would’ve had the greatest season ever

Best defense ever...for the regular season.
Second best defense in 2011. Not sure how it would be best of all time.

Unbelievable season but not greatest of all time.
Many of these top 10 wins were over very flawed teams. UGA had no offense and Alabama had its worst defense under Saban. Clemson was minus three first round draft picks on the defensive line from 2018.
Still prefer 1995 Nebraska as the goat.

I mean the fifth best team was Georgia, and they could barely score.
True. but we did outscore Florida.
Florida scored 432 points on the season.
Georgia scored 431 points on the season.
