I’d say that the 4 seed has won it all enough to justify keeping it at 4 teams.

And this is why a 16-team playoff is a terrible idea. A team that got blown out by Cal, Florida, and Bama, by a total of 77 points, has no business participating in a playoff for the National Championship.
