Text from an SEC source with knowledge of the inner workings of the league office…

“A couple more dominoes fall and we’re in a situation where the SEC could become its own division. More teams have reached out than what’s being reported. 20-24 within the realm of possibility.”

It goes to that many, then like the old Southern Conference, it will split into 2-3 new conferences quickly.

I'm 100% fine with this idea of 32 teams breaking away from everyone else to form their own league. But if that is going to happen with USC, Oregon, Texas, OU, OSU, Michigan, PSU, FSU, Nebraska, Clemson, etc all joining us to form this, it would be insanely stupid to have Vandy or Mississippi State tag along just because they are founding members of a conference that doesn't really even exist anymore.

A league like that could pay each member 100 million or more annually. We going to pay Vandy that to go 0-12 every year just because they were here first?
