Good post but I do want to point out that Bama has a win on a neutral field against a 2 loss Wisconsin team (the other loss to undefeated Iowa 10-6), a UGA team who was fully loaded...playing at home as a top 10 team at the time before being ripped apart at the seams by Bama. A aTm team playing at home, undefeated, and top 10 that was ripped to shreads by Bama. If a team falls apart after getting destroyed by another team, we can't really say it wasn't a great win at the time. It looks like a lot of folks, not you because you are always reasonable when I see your posts, want to discount Bama's quality wins after the fact. I don't think that is a wise move for some of the fans of the teams bitching now because if their bell-cow wins get diminished later in the season, the same can be said about their resume'.

I agree. When I say that there aren't quality wins there, I'm really saying "current top 25 wins".

However, I am 100% willing to say that the Bama game was a turning point for both UGA and A&M. I think those were both much better teams before their first loss, which both happened to come against Bama. At the point they occurred, I would definitely count those as quality wins. I don't think a single A&M or UGA fan would argue that their team is playing as well now as it was prior to that game.

You have a 180 degree different take on games with some SEC teams. You have come down on Bama and other SEC teams as well without knowing specifics of their games...

I can see Bama at 4 if we beat LSU this weekend.

But Bama should not be in the top 4 yet, period.

UGA, ATM and WIS are good wins but no longer great ones.

Fans have to realize. Its more important where a team is ranked when you play them vs after you play them. If a team loses they generally fall in ranking. But you dont say the team they beat is not as good this week as they were last week before their loss.

If OSU is undefeated for 3 straight years and is #1 and loses to another team. Its more important to know that other team beat the #1 ranked team than to know 5 weeks later they "only" beat the #10 team. It was the same team. And had they not lost, they would still be #1 if no one else beat them.

It kills me that people cant get this.

Remove Bama and Iowa (7-1 and 8-0) from their schedule and Wisconsins remaining opponents are a combined 13-38 on the season. They would very probably be winless in the SEC-west.. they might beat Auburn

Not mocking anything. Simply stating all parts of a football game count. Bottom line is the scoreboard.

We won by 15 on the road and dominated the stats.

and that NC State QB is better than any in SEC. most NFL potentional. He eluded a lot of sacks and made some big plays.

Fair enough, but 3 "good" wins is still a lot more than most teams have. Florida has one win that can even be considered "good", and several near losses to less than stellar teams.

Don't get me wrong I hat ND but they lost to number 1 on a fumble going in to win, Alabama lost to Ole Miss wtf. This is a joke, but just the first week so really doesn't mean anything.

EXACTLY! You are one of the few I have debated this with that gets this! Look at the QB situation for UGA, their QB was riding high and all we heard was how awesome he was in passing efficiency but Alabama had dude sitting on the bench, not injured...straight benched before halftime. Not been the same since. aTm....heralded, great QB play...has several INTs and 3 of them pick 6's...he hasn't been the same and if anyone thinks a QB won't get trigger shy after what Bama did to them, they are nuts and need to study football a bit more. So you get me point. Some teams are dressed down and just aren't the same afterwards. The team who did the dressing down should not be penalized over that either....the win should count for some credit on its merits at the time.

they had a punt return TD, then their TE made one of the most amazing catches I've seen in football, which set them up for a TD.

I'm sure Clemson is glad to have you, but you'd make a great Bama fan.

What kills me is that you can't grasp that those rankings are based on preseason perception.. not on the field results.

Unless you think LSU should get credit for beating #18 Auburn that is 1-4 in SEC play and last in the SEC-west.. narrowly escaping Jacksonville St and Kentucky

that UGA qb had played well against a terrible SC defense. he got benched b/c it was clear he couldn't do well against better defenses. nothing to dow ith alabama in general
