Alabama sucked in 1998. Mike Dubose was head coach and we went 7-4 (beat AU 31-17) and then got waxed in the Music City Bowl in Nashville by Va Tech. It was freezing cold and was sleeting at times. Our players were huddled around heaters and had on those giant robes you can put over pads, it couldn't have been more obvious that they didn't want to be there. Meanwhile Va Tech guys had on short sleeved jerseys and acted like it was a beautiful spring day. A miserable end to a miserable season.

Google the company was founded in 1998, but Google the search engine was launched sometime in 1995 or 1996. The years are all kinda mixing together for me.

In 1998, the Euro didn't exist. Every European country had its own currency.

In 1998, Boris Yeltsin appointed a strapping young go-getter named Vladimir Putin to the head of the Russian Federal Security Service, the successor organization to the KGB.

The Tennessee Oilers played their first game in their new stadium. Oh, and by the way, we're tearing down that out of date stadium this year.
