'64 AP and UPI Trophies are in The Bryant Museum.

The 1964 NC trophy should be awarded after each year's Bama - Arkansas game, with the winner keeping it on campus until the next game.

You can come visit the 1964 AP and UPI National Championship trophies in Tuscaloosa

After all this time, and people still don't understand how championships work.
UNIVERSITIES DON'T "CLAIM" CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Here's how it actually works:
At the end of the season, either before bowls or after, certain organizations AWARD championships to teams they feel were the best, or at least deserve the championship the most. These awards usually come in the form of a trophy.
Here's where the university comes in:
Depending on the perceived prestige of the organization awarding the championship, a university may choose to acknowledge the award or not. Reputable universities will only recognize awards from the AP/Coaches organizations since they've been in existence. Some may or may not recognize pre-AP Rose Bowls as de facto championships.
Disreputable universities will acknowledge all the championships they have been awarded, no matter the prestige of the organization. 1941 comes to mind.
So, in short, there is no "claim", you either have the trophy or you don't. If you have it, you either choose to recognize it or you don't.
Unfortunately, no one will actually learn anything from my post. The ones who already agree with it will be all like, "Well, yeah, duh." while others who have never understood how it works will just be like, "Wait, wha...?" and proceed to ask the same stupid question over and over.

Joe said he scored. One ref said he scored then some Longhorns uncle came in and said no

Hog fans act like it was a no-brainer. That everyone but Bama fans thinks Arkansas was the NC, yet, TWO news service polls of HUNDREDS of sportswriters across the whole country named Bama ‘64 NC.
We lived with split NC until the BCS. AR can claim what they want but Bama has the hardware for 64 and just because their dream team of Jones, Johnson, and Hatfield is a feel good story, the standards are in the Bryant Museum.

If you can name a school that won either the AP or UPI title and dont claim it I will agree with you

Or all those times Notre Dame refused to play in a bowl.

you would have lost to Bama in 64.
Because you obviously don't know what you're talking about. Y'all lost to Texas in the bowl and we already beat them........no we wouldn't have and the one opponent that you lost to actually examplifies the argument that Arkansas is the real champion.

What in the frick are you talking about? Joe Namath was the MVP of the 1965 Orange Bowl throwing for over 300 yards with 2 TDs and no picks ('64 season obviously) and y'all lost cause you couldn't score a TD in the fourth. You are literaly talking out of your arse. You lost to Texas with Namath playing one of his best college games ever. Get tf over it your 64 championship is hallow.
