Yeah, must be because we're terrified and clearly has nothing to do with exposure and compensation.

Playing in-state podunk schools might be good welfare of said school, but it does nothing for Alabama. Better to build our brand nationwide.

The point is every SEC program plays FCS programs - including Alabama. So with that being the case, why pay a FCS program from across the country six figures for a home game when there are FCS programs literally right down the road from your campus? Playing an in-state FCS program would generate fan interest, create excitement, plus keeps that money in state.

UAB was a real threat recently

UAB was a real threat to not have anyone pay to attend their games, that's why the program was nearly killed.

The games would be played in Tuscaloosa either way. So the same businesses will be getting money regardless of who Alabama is playing. The only thing that is changing is the opponent.

And that money isn't leaving the state regardless of the opponent.

If the opponent is out of state, that would give it more of a chance of any of their out of state fans coming to the stadium, bringing in out of state money.

So the only money that would be leaving the state would be that of the actual contract to come play. And even then that is offset because those teams will just go to other schools and get the same paychecks.

You just made my point for me.

Your gump brethren was using the tax money as an excuse for playing out of state teams. My point was..................it makes absolutely no difference, so why not help an in-state small school out?

Tell me you don't understand how taxes on goods work without telling me.
Again..........wow.
ETA Example...........I live in NW Fla.. When I go to a game, I buy my gas, snacks, and drinks in Florida. The day of the game I drive to Auburn. I tailgate. I watch the game. I get in my vehicle and drive home. I may grab a burger in Alabama or I may not spend a penny in Alabama. A citizen of Alabama buys everything in Alabama while going to a game.

Cool story. I’m sure all the fans for Cal, New Mexico State, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M are all going to drive/fly in, go to the game without spending any money on concessions and drive/fly home the day of the game when the play in Auburn this year. None of them will stay at a hotel or grab any meals or spend any money in the state of Alabama. I’m sure they are all as cheap as you

Your grasp of taxes and the economic benefits of tourism is adorable.

so you are comparing a rent-a-win to this?

You are grasping at straws and making a point that not only myself, but others have debunked.

not cheap. It's just the state of Florida gets my money...........not Alabama.

ETA AGAIN, Auburn/bama are going to make basically the same amount no matter who each plays. Why not help a small in-state school? One rent-a-win is no different than another............especially an FCS level one.

ETA to the ETA How many tickets do you think go to the ren-t-a-win..........maybe 8k? Exactly how much money do you think the state generates for a weekend with that huge influx of non-alabamians?
