He can't coach a lick. He is John Pelphrey with the talent.

Coaching is overrated. It's all about talent.

If that was true Calipari would have won a title or two by now.

I agree with you that Stokes will go to Memphis, but Easterwood says a lot of things that turn out completely false. For a while, everyone on Memphis Tigers.org thought Quincy Miller was a lock to them, and I don't know why besides some random shite Easterwood said.

Oh god, that pecker wood HATES Arkansas. He holds a major grudge, but I can't remember why.

He may be one of ones who thinks Arkansas "owes" them a couple home football games. Or it may be a part of it.

Personally, I wouldn't mind dropping the FCS opponent and have Memphis open in LR for football almost every year if it meant we could renew our series in Basketball.

Todd Day needs to get him some mens in his program to send our way...

He's been wrong before, but I trust him 100% when it comes to kids from the city of Memphis.

this guy has known these kids, on a personal level, since they were in elementary school.

Pastner has been adamant about not playing Arkansas or UT in basketball.

Only thing keeping the Tennessee Basketball series alive, is our willingness to play them in their house(football).

Does it stretch back to the '80s? I'm not recalling off the top of my head, but IIRC there was a theory of Nolan turning them in for their cheating ways back around that time.

That and there was some shady shite that went on with the recruitment of Penny Hardaway by Memphis when he was an Arkansas lean. Sunday sprinting back to the hill from Memphis as soon as the NCAA said he could, etc.

Calipari was the reason the series in basketball ended. Memphis was willing to continue if we played them in Memphis twice while they played us in LR once in football or some stupid shite like that. Then Memphis somehow concluded that we "owe" them home football games anyway.

This was at a time that the head coach (Heath) and following coach (Pel) wouldn't have known what to do with Memphis talent had they been able to get them...

I've had Memphis State fans present the argument that the only reason we were good at basketball in the 90s was because they were "down" and lost "their talent" to us, infact we stole "their" national championship.

Don't get me wrong, Beck was a key player on that team, but the best player was from right here in Russvegas, AR.

Stokes new blog post is out, and he announced he is transferring to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia.

Sounds like Arkansas is on top from the Blog.

quote:

Being the main guy doesn’t really matter to me and the school I’d like to talk about first is Arkansas. I have a good relationship with head coach Mike Anderson and assistant coach T.J. Cleveland. I just love how they preach family and I think they are building something great at Arkansas. They will be one of the top schools in the SEC soon. I did have a visit planned at Arkansas last week but I went to Drivers Ed so it was canceled and we postponed that.

Fan question: “Which coach best represents your personal values, on and off the court?” – David (Memphis)

I like how Mike Anderson of Arkansas runs his program and his perspective on things and how he runs things off the court. Basketball is a commitment for him too because he stays in shape as a 50-year-old man and he’s probably in better shape than the whole team. He has faith in god – he preaches that – and he also preaches family. He would be the ideal type of person that I want to play for in college, I like him as a person.

He was kinda "meh" about Memphis.

But, it has to be Memphis or Tennessee, it just has to be.

Looks like a more open field.

Who knows at this point.

Arkansas is definitely in it. Him transferring to Oak Hill shows he willing to leave the city.

This is good for all teams still in the running for Stokes, besides Memphis. Gets him away from Easterwood and the FedEx money.

If you follow Easterwood, you would have thought Stokes was going to go play for the Atlanta Celtics to help recruit kids like Shaq Goodwin to Memphis, Stokes was going to commit to Memphis in a matter of days and Arkansas was completely out of the picture.

Some in Memphis have thought all along that he was going to leave Memphis, so we will see.
