That was the height of the Alabama/Auburn rivalry, and it will probably never see that kind of vitriol again.

I disagree. There will always be new peaks and valleys in tGOAT rivalry. It might take some time though.

I'll take Cam any day over this coke monkey, Daniel. That piece of shite couldn't even win his division.

The combination of Cam’s smugness and superior athletic ability that was paid for, but unable to be stopped. Nick Fairley’s dominant but routinely dirty play. And of course, Gene Chizik calling it all a “God thing” with a loathsome level of self righteousness... whew.

Not to mention, it was the re-birth of the Golden Horseshoe with a very close fumble recovery call late vs. Uk and all of the improbable things that had to unfold in the CamBack game.

In the moment, it was easy to hate Cam and AU more than usual, but the kick 6 is really the most AU thing ever and still rustles my Jimmies much more than Cam. The Kick 6 absolutely cost Bama a NC; moreover, AU had that incredible play to win the game and set the stage for a miracle season, but wasted it losing to an FSU team with the future $70 million dollar man and a crab stealing, rapist at QB.

I suppose it’s possible. I think Saban’s tenure at Bama has hit the reset button on the respective roles, and has probably made our relationship as healthy as it’s ever been. I think it will take a run of dominance from Auburn on the national level for Bama fans to get back to that place.

There was a moment there that I didn’t think I could hate him any more than I did. I was wrong

Or a decade of average/above-average football from the Tide in Saban's wake.

I concur.

After the initial shock of his hiring, and the usual suspects claiming that Saban was cheating at Bryant levels as the victories piled up, most AU fans have reached a level of grim resignation about our status relative to the GOAT CFB program just up the road. And speaking personally, I have nothing but respect for what Saban has been able to accomplish over these last 13 years.

Despite claims to the contrary, Gustav didn’t get his walking papers because he wasn’t more successful against the greatest HC in the history of the sport. It was his record against lesser lights like Richt/Kirb at UGa and Eaux at LSU that earned him his $21 million severance pay.

But I digress. The rivalry is healthier than it’s ever been because we’ve accepted our role for the time being. It’ll get ugly again if/when we start winning more than once every 4 years or so. Exactly as you implied - Bama fans can’t take being in “that place”.

I am speaking about any fan in general! I just got the reply button on his comment. Wasn’t meant specifically for A&M

This is true.

And I just wanted to add that Michael Dyer rustled some too.

This still hurts more than it should 7 years later.
