I have heard this floated also, but I think the motivation for Davis is to finish his career at home and qualify for state retirement. This would be his last job.

So mike Davis would be an assistant coach? probably not a bad move if the head coach is cool with it.

Yes, assoc HC title with salary around $500,000 or more. Would make for one helluva state retirement.

It's equivalent of what auburn does in football. We may even make final four soon.
I'd nominate chris Jans as xo guy.

Cecil Hurt quickly shot that down. Said he wasn't in the mix.

Yeah, I don't think Dick Patio was anything more than a name mentioned.

Shouldn't you win some before floating your name around?

Avery Johnson

He has never coached college before. I wonder how that would work out.
I would give Bama Mike Anderson and Portis for Avery Johnson.

At this point, my favorites would be Avery Johnson or Archie Miller. Not sure if we can get them, but I wish we would try.

Even better would be to do the replace Prohm with Avery Johnson in the Mike Davis assistant head coaching scenario. Makes a splash with a big name while also bringing in an ace recruiter in Davis. Would give AJ someone on staff who is familiar with both Alabama and college recruiting.

Our odds of landing Avery Johnson or Archie Miller were much higher if we could make it appear they were a priority from the beginning. The media, fans, and recruits will now view anyone not named Marshall as our backup plan.

Agree. AJ would need very good assistants who know the college game.

Marshall back on Rome. Very kind words about Bama, but man, what an attention ho.

Someone get on the horn with Battle and pitch the AJ/Mike Davis combo.
