I wonder how Strong turning Texas around will affect this.

A totally different luxury for Texas A&M. Alabama generally expects to get 7-10 of the top fifteen in-state. Then finish things out within a 500 mile radius of Tuscaloosa. A few will fall outside that radius each cycle.

If the actual season goes anyway similar to how he's "turned around" the offseason then they will be lucky to win 5 games.

Is Kendall Sheffield truly a "heavy A&M lean" in your opinion.... come on now

From what I've read after the opening. "Very heavy lean" would be more appropriate.

I think sheffield is an a&m lean, no one is a lock including commits anyway. Sheffield seems pretty set on playing in the SEC, I just think between our depth chart, proximity, and talent he'd have around him were a really good for. When deshazor leaves we may not have a shut down corner on campus. Sheffield is a high priority.

Just so you don't think I'm talking out if my arse, shef has 31 crystal balls on 247 all predicting A&M.

Sheffield is an A&M lean not VERY heavy by any means at all!!! He is big on FSU and Bama. He is on his 2nd visit to Bama currently (a multi day visit at that) Mo Smith is one of his best friends and he wants to run track in college. Bama can now prove to him he can do both and (hopefully) succeed. FSU WILL land either Boyd/Marshall/McFadden/Fitzpatrick/Sheffield.

Don't get your hopes too high on Sheffield leaving the state to play ball.
Kyler Murray is doing work and he has a helluva stroke among his peers in Texas, also the Aggies will have a starting CB spot up for grabs.

Technically 2 if Harris keeps getting abused by SEC receivers.

Any school with an upper class men has a spot available.. not only that, you think Sheffield is afraid of competition? At Bama plenty of players have gotten nocked right out of their starting spot whether they WERE starters the previous year or not. The best player and the one that does the right things on and off the field WILL play.

Ironically recruiting almost exclusively Texas kids is what led to Mack Brown's failure on the football field.

Things like telling JFF he was a safety and refusing to return Jameis Winston's Coach phone calls contributed to Mack's job loss.

He just recruited the wrong kids and promised them he'd only recruit one at their position. No comp. No back up. Couldn't find a QB when TX Qbs won 3 Heismans in a row. Just plain silly.

Recruiting Texas kids was far from Mack's biggest issue. He just picked a lot of the wrong ones and he didn't develop those he had among many, many other issues. Texas produces the most 1st Rounders almost every year.
I wouldn't hold your breath on Strong turning thing around anytime soon barring a surprising breakthrough on the field. He is off to a rough start and seems to be digging a deeper hole as he goes. He's not connecting well with HS coaches and his old school mantra isn't resonating with recruits. His few commits that are valued by other power player schools are also still very much keeping an ear open as well. Anything can happen of course but things may look worse for Texas right now than when A&M rolled off 10 off 11 against them in the '80s and '90s. If Strong struggles it will get even worse.

Lots of underestimating of Strong. He is by no means an exceptional recruiter, but he's better than most.
