Unfortunately, incredulously, I've had 2 different sources in the past 2 days explain to me how they're doing it. Again, these are rumors but they came from most reliable folks. Huntsville's infamous friend of Logan Young, long time Alabama icon, Billy Neighbors, name has been thrown around, along with two unknown names from East Tennessee. Again, anyone's name could be thrown into the mix; these are just rumors, alleged, not proven. Logan used to throw Billy Neighobors name around to me all the time as part of his group but that didn't mean I accused, suspected, Neighbors, of being involved in the Memphis buying of players. Allegedly the runner will get paid if and when he delivers the prospects to Alabama; thus far, he has arranged for health club workouts for 2 Melrose juniors, taken them to Tuscaloosa, (they did NOT meet Saban-arms length-)and given them small amounts of money. They are convinced they can get anybody they want from Melrose; Alabama did not recruit Melrose's Greg King last year.
It took more than a decade, millions of dollars, and the US Govt.s involvement to stop Logan Young. Dealing, stopping, runners will be even much more difficult, as the sport of basketball can testify. It's a shame, and incredulous, but I'm convinced several Alabama boosters are, have, retained the services of a local runner to further their recruting efforts here in Memphis.

Sounds like Vol fans making shite up because of being butthurt over losing instate recruits. Not every recruit wants to see Orgeron topless.

I know this guy likes to spread rumors to stroke his ego... I know Tenn. fans treat him like gold since he helped bust Logan Young & Albert means years ago....

Saban was one of the coaches involved in the bidding war for Albert Means while he was the head coach at Michigan State, so the possibility of him cheating at bammer is not as crazy as you believe

Roy is upset that his many "dinner parties" are unable to sway some local prospects UT's way. Roy hosts all kinds of dinner parties and all the local HS coaches and asst coaches attend for free. Plenty of food, booze and women to take care of those special "guests" who may just happen to have a big recruit or 2.
Not many prospects in memphis are enamoured by UT, kiffin and staff.

The dynamics of Tennessee are interesting. It is almost as if East, Middle, and West TN are different states. It does not suprise me that people aren't high on the UT staff, the previous staff also let many recruuits from Memphis get away. For a major city in the state, there are relatively few Vol fans in Memphis.

from what I've read over the years... Roy Adams and Logan Young were big drinking buddies until Young said something about Roy's mother, from that point on, Roy had a hard on to bust Alabama. Roy has admitted time and again to "helping" players. And the other poster is right, he has high school coaches to his place for football parties constantly, as well as ex-players. The joy eminating from his post after Logan Youngs death was a tell tale to the guys character, imo. While I was glad the Young thing was over, didn't wish death on the guy, but Adams posted gleefully about the guys death.
eta- and yeah.. I'm sure Tennessee would love the spotlight off them over bringing a rapist into the program.

He has bragged many times about $100 handshakes to UT players.. From reading his posts over the years he basically has to pay people to be friends with him... Stories of his hot tub parties with young athletic men are legend around memphis...(allegedly)he's LINK

I've met Roy once. At the same time I met Roy, I was introduced to Chuck Cole who was with Roy at the time.
Roy makes no bones about his activities and imo has the handshakes down to an artform. But getting back to Roy and our 1 time meeting....after some idle chit-chat (early, early,stages of LY/Memphis/Means fiasco) he asked where I was from. After answering Roy, he went into a story on how he tried to recruit Eddie Blake to UT. Roy told me he offered Blake 500.00 per month and thought they had a deal until auburn upped the anty to 500.00 plus a vehicle.
Speaking of Means, I attended a function function in Memphis where I sat at the same table as Tommy West. West was in his 1st season as the new coach at Memphis and his cell phone kept ringing every 10 minutes or so. Finally the calls stopped right after Tommy told his companion "looks like we got our lineman coming home". At the time It didn't register, but the lineman reference was Albert Means.

Roy likes to toot his own horn to make himself seem really important. Hard to tell if anything he says has merit or is just plain BS.

no Saban was not involved with bidding on albert means you stupid dipshit. Saban stopped recruiting him when he found out means was looking for a paycheck.
