Why didn't he run that onside kick for a touchdown? Was it just me or was that pretty strange?

Can you advance an onside kick?

I'm pretty sure it is treated exactly the same way a regular kick off is.

Treadwell would have had a the rare "Onside 6" under his belt

Yes, it is a live ball. The kicking team can't advance it if they recover.

Well then. I don't know. Guess he was ready for the game to end.

Hands team is taught to go secure football and hit the deck. This means Treadwell did just as he has been coached to do. It just so happened that BS kicker made a terrible onside kick. I had no problem with it, as I would much rather have him secure the ball to give up a TD rather than try to advance it in a crowd and give up a turnover

You can definitely advance an onside kick, it is a muffed punt that you can't advance. I think it was the 2000 independence bowl game vs Oklahoma that deuce took an onside kick back for 6. He was just doing what he was taught

I couldn't have been happier when he hit the deck as I took the under.

It was the 98 independence bowl against Texas Tech that Deuce took to the house.

But either way, any true OM fan should know that you can in fact advance an onsides kick

My first OM game was from the womb at War Memorial Stadium in Arkansas. And I still remember it vividly.

Well since my parents were LSU students, we don't want to go down that route.
