The fanbase wouldn’t like that move. Especially after Charlie got on the plane. I feel like many of our people were already looking at Pete as a backup plan and Charlie ruined his chance at it by publicly getting on the plane.

Probably not a rational basis for making a decision, but I think it’s why we never gave him a look.

I was talking about before the plane incident as KC certainly had a long time to think about it..regardless, I’m on board just hate to possibly see the offense lose Trinidad and this offensive scheme

Pete said Charlie said he was coaching the game yesterday regardless of whether or not he had lane's blessing. Sounds like that was communicated before he got on the plane. I've gained a lot of respect for Charlie this year. Hope he ends up getting a head coaching job soon and gets away from kiffin

Golding looks far more serious about football than did Lane. Lane was too interested in flash and not a lot of substance.

why not give HC to Charlie

Pete has half a decade more experience than Charlie. It took a lot of people in this forum a few days to come around to the idea of Pete being an acceptable hire. They felt OM could have made a more glamorous splash hire. Fans felt that way despite Pete being from the Saban coaching tree.

The fanbase wouldn’t come around a Charlie hire as quickly. Charlie has only called plays under 2 coaches: Jeff Scott and LK. The 2 years he called plays under Jeff Scott, the offenses were the 3rd worst in the American.

Lane didn't really give a shite when he lost us 3 games last season.
