I see a Cutcliffe situation developing with Freeze.....he may be loyal to a fault but he makes way too much money to turn in these results....as well I would like to see more size on defense.....4-2-5 only works against Texas A & M apparently
I've said this for a while now, and people laughed at it. Ole Miss is a perpetual 8 win team, and always will be. A lot of that comes down to money, as I've also always said. Deluded Ole Miss fans talk about Freeze's salary, without understanding that our overall staff is sub-par. We don't have the funds to hire top assistant talent.
The bottom line is you have to spend money to win. Those who spend money don't always win, but no one who wins consistently spends little. That is the cold reality of college football, and something Ole Miss will never be able to overcome. Which is why I say that Ole Miss won't win the SEC in our lifetimes, nor will it ever win a national championship again.
Thus, you just have to realize what the situation is and not buy into the sunshine-enema nonsense.
We could very well lose every game left on the schedule, ending up with 7 wins, which is what I said at the beginning of the season. Of course, Freeze disciples thought I was crazy.
But that's not crazy; that's simply looking at history. And history is on mediocrity's side.

Oh, right to the ad hominem. Excellent.
I'll take that as proof-positive that I'm correct. Thanks for bowing out so early. Your debate skills are shite.

You're absolutely right. It sucks, and I thought we would be able to overcome it this season due to our cheating in recruiting, but our staff fricked that up for us. We can't break the bank every year like we did in 2013.
Alas
Alas

And you really have to pull in those types of classes every year. In fact, Ole Miss probably has to do better than the other schools in the conference consistently, because it's already at an innate disadvantage.
Not going to happen.
But, Freeze can win about 8 games a year. Around 8 games is kind of our ceiling. We can win that often, 9 games rarely, and once every blue moon -- we can win 10. That's Ole Miss football at its core. It just depends on what you want out of a school.
If you're looking for a consistent winner, then you'll need to go to a bigger school with more money. Even when the major schools are down, like Michigan, at some point they'll be back on top. It's just the way of things and a lot of it has to do with just how poor the state of Mississippi is.
Economics are as much of a factor as anything.

You're depressingly accurate

The issue isn't money as much as it is unbalanced recruiting We load up on skill players which inflates our rankings but lack adequate depth and talent in other areas. But tonight was on coaching. We couldn't guard play action to save our lives. Poor coaching and poor Football IQ.

Well, again, our defense sucked. Has almost all season.
How we ever kept A&M to just 3 points is beyond me. I guess it was mainly their QB play in retrospect.
As for tonight, both teams deserved to win. If that ball bounces just slightly differently we are all having a slightly different discussion.
I would like to think we would still be focusing mainly on that awful defense.
But again, Chad Kelly and Treadwell are something else. I know others played well also. Walton gave it his all. Not sure, but Tunsil probably at least held his own. I was disappointed in HIlton. So was he, probably.
I have aboslutely no idea where RNkemdiche was.

Hard for R Nkemdiche to make plays when you are in OT running cover 3...wth
I don't think anyone should be fired, but cover 3? Why?

I called better defensive schemes on Tecmo Bowl in the 1980's.
