If the revelation had been last year, we would have "busted a nutt" to get Kirby Smart or Will M.

Obviously, they are not the answer.

Anyhoo, anybody see the tweet/team members from Longo tonite? (The board froze up and couldn't link.)

the most obvious silver lining is that a cheating, lying, grandstanding hypocrite is no longer coaching the football team.

If we had those resources and that instate recruiting base, I have to believe we could be so much better every year than A&M. What is the deal?

Why not Saban or Habrough while we're at it? I'm sure Gruden would jump at the opportunity.

It never ceases to amaze me the level of delusion that fans have when it comes to coaching positions.

Remember when we fired Cutcliffe and we ended up with our 7th choice? A shrimp boat captain with no head coaching experience who won 3 conference games in 3 years?

Remember when we fired Nutt and ended up with the Arkansas State coach who had exactly one year of head coaching experience?

What makes you think this time will be any different? (Oh, and crippling sanctions to carry around for the next five years). That should help.

Jesus baby tap dancing Christ.

SC went bowling last year and just beat a good NC State team.

Touching on the HC search - the other night made me a little more ok with the idea of Luke as a permanent fix. I liked what I saw from the team as far as philosophy and playcalling. He wasn't gonna fix that shitshow defense, but everything else honestly felt really good.

Wish we'd run more. Thats about it.

Im not sure how old you are but as far as the Coach O hire it had absolutely nothing to do with great coaches not wanting the gig. Randy Shannon, Dennis Erickson, Bobby Petrino were all begging for the job. A bad cheap hire was made.

I'll know if OM makes a great hire if Bjork makes the hire and not some Archie Manning good ol boy hire. I like Luke as a person, but if we are serious about winning we have the funds to afford a top ten paid coach and his staff. Get the right guy for the rebuild.

I have read some delusional shite on this board. But this takes things to a whole new level.

quote:

There are 12 programs in the SEC in a position to hire a better coach then Ole Miss. We may actually be the single least appealing job in the conference.

On top of which, the safe money in coaching is to stay away from the SEC West. You can win with more resources and a an easier path at dozens of other places in the ACC, B10, etc.

And look at the SEC programs with bigger fan bases, larger markets, and more money than us. Look what they have done? If you think a Top Ten Coach is out there wanting to come to Oxford, look at the last 10 hires in the conference.

For God's sake, look what LSU ended up with! And Florida. And Tennessee. And Arkansas. And Georgia. And SC.

You don't want any of those guys. And those guys are FAR BETTER than anything we can hope to get. Those guys wouldn't even interview (literally) with Ole Miss the last time our position opened up.

Wake up to the reality of our situation.

Our's is not a Top 10 job. I'm not sure where it ranks honestly, especially with the NCAA stuff. But there are a lot of good coaches out there. It's not uncommon for a school to find one and an accompanying staff who can get it done and they aren't necessarily household names by any stretch. I hope that for us should Luke not work out.

You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. LSU ended up with Coach O because there stupid arse AD got butt hurt that Herman was using Texas to get more money. LSU is where Herman wanted to go. I am 100% sure of that. LSU AD didn't want to get in a fight, he didnt even look elsewhere he just settled.

Everyone of those guys listed actually interviewed prior to Coach O being hired. Petrino WANTED the job. Our administration for whatever reason fell in love with Coach O and his ability to recruit. Erickson was loved by some but the good ol boys wanted Coach O.

As far as what we can hire now, who knows. We have a top ten salary. You are a freaking idiot if you think guys are turning that down when they know 100% at the least they have 4 years guaranteed to make it work. If we get another year bowl ban you have a built in barrier for why your team sucks. Talk about job security it doesn't get any better for a top ten salary. There literally will be 0 expectations! 0!

Since the seemingly daily news of something else Freeze was involved in has gone dry, are we to assume there's nothing else to report on his personal life? God I hope so.
