MAYBE saban hired him out of some sort of nepotism. But Sark and Kiffin both hired him after working with him so clearly they saw something they liked. Especially Kiffin, who has hired him multiple times in key roles.
I'm not super excited about this, either. But the whole "he couldn't get a job without his father's name" is silly. Charlie Weiss has been out of football for years and (AFAIK) he wasn't a mentor to Kiffin. There's no reason for him to hire this guy unless he thinks Jr. can do the job.

So with Durkin maybe going to A&M, what would we do at DC?
Seems like it would be a good opportunity to promote Partridge and then just hire a LB coach

With how our defense turned around through the season we really need to try like hell to keep him.

He's more important to keep then Lebby was because Kiffin will always have a large hand in the offense. Pay the man his money.

Hopefully it's about money and not about Kiffin throwing his defense under the bus(rightfully so) at times during the season.
Kiffin gave the defense a ton of props late in the season and last night.

We aren't bringing someone else in. Partridge will promote to help with continuity.
