Sounding like another player or two was shot as well. MJ Preston being one and maybe Kam Franklin was also along for the ride. These dudes really just need to stay on campus if at all possible unless it's a school function. I know I'm asking too much, but still...

Terrible for the kid and his family to make it out of New Orleans only to get killed in the Memphis area

Memphis is a war zone and it's completely lawless. You need Kevlar and a belt fed weapon mounted to your vehicle if you're brave enough to go out after sundown.
