I'm sure he was promised an opportunity. A coaching staff would be foolish to promise anything more.

I think Dodson's probably pissed he didn't emerge in camp like the thought he would.

As others have said, his skill set isn't unique like Kailo or Wilkins, but I suspect he would have a legit chance to win the job next season. He is an all-around type of RB.

Yeah it definitely comes with the territory. There is no way that if you have great depth that guys aren't going to get upset and leave. Not a problem you mind having.

I can understand him being pissed about leaving high school and enrolling early but he can't expect to just be given the job for doing that. He needs to realize that Freeze redshirting him is for his benefit because he's clearly not good enough to play in games right now. This isn't about Freeze being a slime ball recruiter making promises he can't keep. He understands that Dodson isn't good enough to play right now and won't get many touches during the season. So he is going to redshirt him, help him develop more and he hasn't lost a year of eligibility while he is getting better.

But idiots want to say that it's because of the NCAA and that Freeze is a two faced recruiter.

Vanderbilt was the other school.

If he plays its going to be a waste of a year. Period. Walton and Mathers are ahead of him and Moore and Wilkins have more defined roles. There are only so many carries to go around.

I bet he'll end up returning kicks and not redshirting just to keep him happy ala Tobias

And then at the end of the year Dodson will be pissed with himself for not listening to Freeze about redshirting.

At 18 I would've probably been pretty whiny about it too. He's a kid still

Exactly. Tobias probably hates himself right now.

I think that's the key - I have no gotdayum clue as to what a 18-year old football player away from home should feel like when a coach tells him they'd like him to RS. I bet I'd be butthurt too and feel some sadness or self-doubt.

It's got to elicit a lot of differing emotions...

At 18 I wouldn't take it as
"We are deep at running back right now so we are probably going to redshirt you. You are very talented, have all the tools to be great but it's best for your career to redshirt this year and develop into a better back and you won't lose a year of eligibility."

I'd probably take it as "You suck. Go play on the practice squad sucky mcsucky pants."

Tobias left for a personal problem. I know him and I can't really blame him for why he left.

Tobias nearly left school to go home numerous times during the year. I don't think a football problem was a main reason for leaving.

Dodson will return KOs with Kailo and Walton... He'll also get some touches in the slot... It may come in garbage time against Idaho but he'll be ok... Just being young and foolish tweeting something like that out... The white WR ( Holder maybe) has changed #s so he probably plays some... I don't think we RS but like 6 at the very most( Not counting Brown or Alford obviously)... We just can't afford to.
