Chase is an Ole Miss beat writer. So naturally he’s going to be wrong 80% of the time

Yeah, but he has working eyes.

As far as KC, I don’t know him like that so I didn’t ask him Friday night, but he was pretty damn up beat at that little pre game deal.

Seriously. It is what it is. Lane won't coach here forever. If he stays, great. If he goes, we’ll hire another coach and keep trying to win games. All of this speculation and doom-posting is sad in the grand scheme of things.

You're probably right.

He’s the best coach we’ve had since Vaught and has us on the verge of competing for a national title. I get people being a little more invested after we’ve been starved and told this was impossible for us to do the last 50 years

This is overly how I feel.

I did, however, get the "you can go frick yourself" attitude watching his postgame presser where he brought up the crowd at The Citadel game. Hell, we had a better crowd against The Citadel than LSU did Saturday against Arkansas... seriously.

I get that, but crying about it on a message board is embarrassing. That’s all.

Fair. I thought it was a shitty comment as well.

It’s just a way for people to vent their frustrations. If that’s all it stays at, cool. But if it affects people in their actual lives I agree go touch grass

Twitter is far more embarrassing. We may have set the record for MBG posts this year.

And FYI - If you think I am crying about this, you are wrong. I was just passing along my thoughts. I understand, and have for a while, that we have a classic narcissist as our HC. He loves this shite. I'm focused 100% on this season and seeing how far we can go.

In all fairness to Lane, I think he was simply trying to be funny but missed the mark completely. His ability to read a room is non-existent.

I’m not referring to you. Some people are losing their shite about it, and even tagging Lane in some absolutely psycho posts.

ETA: I guess I sort of consider Twitter a message board at times.

I'm pretty confident that we'll know what is going to happen prior to the CFP games (assuming we don't sh*t the bed in Starkghanistan). Keith said a few weeks ago that he wanted to get the contract done like what Indiana did, and for that not to have happened yet is what is more telling to me than any other the keyboard warriors throwing crap up against the wall to try to be "first" in reporting something.

If Lane is going to go, then he won't be coaching this team in the CFP and it will be a huge hit on the reputation that he's worked hard to rebuild. I did read an article with quotes from recruits that attended the FL game, and one of the recruits said that Lane doesn't talk to recruits about his future - which can only hurt recruiting at this point.

The whole thing is a circus, and in the day of social media, it just adds more fuel/speculation/rumors, and as a fan, it is certainly exhausting. A few weeks ago, I was nearly certain he'd stay - but with this having gone on as long as it has, I'm not so sure at this point.

The guy's record speaks for itself with what he's been able to do at Ole Miss. He's 54-19 overall at Ole Miss and 31-17 in league play. At a certain point, however, you have to ask if the merry-go-round with "will he or won't he" is worth it. He has full support of the AD, boosters, and a heck of a NIL, but even now, you're seeing boosters (Tyler Jordan with Realtree) even getting tired of it. We set a record for attendance this past weekend, and Lane went full snark about the student attendance for the Citadel game.

I get it - Lane isn't a normal person and I would certainly want him to remain as HC at Ole Miss. I think, however, the University is getting to the point where they are going to want a real commitment from Lane with any future contract that he may sign with us. With how the portal windows are setup and everything, if a coach bolts in December, then it really hurts the program and their ability to recruit. We have always given him everything he has ever asked for - if that's not enough for him, then that's outside of our control and we have to do what is right to protect the program and the momentum that's been built.

Either way, in less than 2 weeks, this mess will be resolved one way or another.

So I’ve told you about my only real “source” before. He alluded to me this morning that the biggest hang up right now between Kiffin signing with us or leaving is we apparently greatly increased the buyout if he leaves in the new extension. Like between $15 million and $20 million if he left us under the new agreement. Have you heard anything about that?

I mean a Kiffin is in Gainesville and not a single picture exists???

I mean we have actual pictures of Bigfoot and that is not even real

No, I haven’t asked about the contract or anything like that, but that wouldn’t shock me at all. That would actually make the way he’s acting make a lot of sense too.

I think we may have imposed a date to make a decision on him prior to the Egg Bowl.

If that is the case then I hope Carter sticks to his guns on it. I don’t think that’s unreasonable for us to have that in there.

If that’s what is actually causing the hang up

There is a picture but I don't like it and will not share it because it has to do with Knox. I think that kind of shite is way out of bounds and I'm not going to participate in that.
