This hire has big implications on whether or not we’ll be able land Arch Manning in a few years. Which coach do you believe gives us the best shot at signing him?

quote:

Even though Arch just completed his freshman high school season, there is already interest from Ole Miss. It may be reciprocal. The Class of 2023 is a long way off, but either way, you'd better believe Archie will offer his input on Ole Miss' new coach. Wouldn't Manning want an offensive-oriented coach with a quarterback coaching background? At least someone who would fit with Arch? Conspiracy theory? Not so much. If you've got a quarterback, you've got a chance. Ask LSU, Alabama, Ohio State and others. So in evaluating candidates, assume that Ole Miss will go offense first.

The one that wins.

We shouldn’t hire based on a kid in 9th grade that still has a long way to go tbh.

If we are winning and putting guys in the NFL we will have as good a chance as anyone. We need to worry about winning first.

Now this is the type of strategic thinking that is going to get Ole Miss to the next level. We should definitely be thinking about who an unproven 16 year old would want to play for, and not who is going to navigate us out of the dumpster fire that our program currently finds itself in. Priorities people.

Now, I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that shouldn't be a reason for choosing your next coach. The whims of a freshmen in high school. Even if his last name is Manning.

Heck, with all that forehead, you just KNOW there's a big ole brain in there. He's got to be really smart. Plus, he could bring along Brad Paisley as one of his assistants. I'm not sure to what, but he could still come. And that'd be a SURE way to lock up the Manning kid. Ole Miss should definitely hire him. And maybe he can get Eli to finally retire and be another assistant coach.

Yeah it’d be a crazy question if not for the fact that the last time a Manning played for us we brought in a coach specifically for him and we wound up a few plays away from clinching the West and playing in Atlanta.

Anyways, no, of course we shouldn’t make a decision based solely on Arch. That wasn’t the question. Was simply wondering, as an added value, which of our top candidates would be most attractive to him. It’d be a nice auxiliary benefit, but obviously not the driving force behind a decision.

A pro style coach but any are better than him looking at the rich rod offense.

So just because his last name is Manning we are going to repeat his Uncle's success? Come on, man.

Archie Manning: Football phenom grandson Arch Manning 'ahead of' Peyton, Eli at this stage

quote:

"He’s probably a little ahead of them as a freshman," Archie Manning said, when asked if he thinks Arch could be better than his uncles Peyton and Eli. They played junior varsity as freshmen and started as sophomores. Not Arch, a 6-1 graduate of the class of 2023, who earned a spot on varsity after a scrimmage game for Isidore Newman in May. He threw for three touchdowns, all while displaying accuracy, arm strength and something his uncles have never really been known for — agility.

Archie said that Arch is far and away ahead of where both his QB sons were at this age.

Let’s just hope Kiffins bag man throws enough cash his way

It's legit the perfect storm. Kiffin will be in his 3rd year and have us rolling when Arch is a senior in 2022.

Kiffin needs to hire Eli and Peyton to be the co-QB coaches to solidify Arch’s commitment. Archie can be a player development/consultant role too.
