I just realized the last two top OT as rated by 247 started in the playoffs as true freshman at LT

Gotta agree here. I just don't believe we are really in it for him. If he stays in MS, i believe he will be at MSU. Which means we better be turning up the heat on Drake with Cleveland a Coog now.

By "in it" I mean i don't think we have a chance at him. As in, barring MSU shutting downtheir football program and Saban bolting for the NFL before NSD I see us with no shot.

Houstons coach is gone after next year.
I'm glad they are recruiting well because frick Texas and aTm and Tom Herman is a players coach, getting the grill and all with Paul wall.
But he has a reworked contract and it makes it extremely easy for him to leave next year.
He's doing great things and will have success next year, but when Texas or Texas AM opens up next year ... he gone.
What do you do after you sit a freshman year and then coach goes to greener pastures.?

Ms state recruiting is in a similar place. It is known that Dan wants out. How much longer will he stay? How much longer will Msu except losing recruiting battles and the egg bowl.
The same reason Dan hasn't gotten out of Starkville is the same reason he struggles with recruiting. He's arrogant and cocky and has to have it his way.
Why else would other ADs pass on him, look at what he's done at state with little talent.
I'm sure the same bad interview personality is true for in-home recruiting.
Maybe he is overpaid and no one will ever pay up for him.
I'm sure the recruits have concern over his testing of the coaching waters. And a few of his asiistants are getting out while the iron is hot.
