I have my great grandfather's Colt .38 and the entire left side of the pistol is hugely pitted from where he carried it every day on his hip.

Yep ... that's a problem with blue steel guns. Especially the older ones that were holstered in leather because the leather itself would absorb body salts and then leek onto the firearm, not to mention the chemicals they used to use to tan the leather. Not much you can do afterwards either - once they are pitted they are pitted pretty much.

Nice having that revolver though I bet huh? Those old Colt Trooper 38s were neat pistols. I had a couple of them at one time but gave them to my kids ... my second oldest daughter got one and my Son got the other one.

I read it on a website last month. May have just been a promo for the gun.

I know top10 has that gun listed as best for the price.

CZ probably makes the best firearms, bar none, for the money on the market right now. They do impressive work and it is old school production craftsmanship.

I've never seen a CZ I didn't like.

I invested in a CZ 500 FS a few years ago in 6.5x55 and it's become my favorite deer rifle. Best single stage production trigger ever on any rifle bar none. Accurate to a fault almost and it is just fun to hunt with.

I cannot say enough good things about CZ.

Thanks. Got the leather U.S. Army flap holster with it too. I got lucky as hell on the deal. Guy acquired it through an estate sale and was going to list it in an auction but decided to see what he could get in a trade. I offered a used Glock 23 and $200 and 100 rounds of ammo. He agreed. Drove 115 miles to do the deal and when I got there, the single action worked fine, but the double action didn't. I told him to let me call a gun smith buddy and see what was up with it. He had not checked before my drive to see if it was fully operational.

I called my buddy, he said more than likely the timing could be off and would be about a $50 fix. Told him the condition and he said minimum value was probably $800ish as a starting point.

Went back to the guy and before I could say anything, he apologized for not checking it out and said he would trade even for the Glock and ammo. I shook hands, did the paperwork, got it home and cleaned it and not a thing wrong with it. Still locks up tight like a new gun. Serial # dates it's manufacture to 1918, so it likely went overseas with someone during WW I.

Now I want a Patton sword, a WW I helmet and a couple other things to make a nice display.

May
U.S. government contract Smith & Wesson 1917 revolvers had serial numbers between 1 and 175100, they should have U.S. property markings on the bottom of the barrel and U.S. army marking on the bottom of the butt. After the war S&W 1917 revolvers were sold commercially and also to the Brazilian government. Brazilian contract revolvers have the Brazilian seal stamped on the side plate.

Yes, it's still functional but I wouldn't trust it to fire. My dad got an older one that he carried as well it was a .45 I believe but it was completely locked up and so thin you could bend it with your hands, he traded it to an old gun collector for a nib Ruger Blackhawk .357 when I was around 8 or 9.

I sold a Colt Python .357 4" nickel plated a few years back. I regret it a little, but I made some $ on the deal.

I still kick myself for not buying a dozen back when they still made them. You can't touch one today for under $2,500, and that's for an in the rough shooter.

had one for many years ... great pistol. I sold it for a ton of money probably ten years ago. Paid like $500 for it back in the 70s and ended-up selling it for $3,500.00 and bought a bunch of other pistols with the money.

Yeah I remember when they were 5-600 bucks, wish I had grabbed a couple

I didn't do that good, I bought it in '95 for $200, sold it around '08 for $1300.

That's very nice. Is that 7+1 in compact or ... those are 14 round mag capacity are they not? Love those 75s ... very well designed. That's a beautiful little pistol. I shot one not long ago but it had aluminum grips. Those look like Rosewood on yours? I really like the look of that pistol.

I got to put a bunch of rounds through a Bersa Thunder .380 a few weeks ago. My groupings were tighter with this gun than any I've fired in a long time. Anyone looking for a low profile concealed carry handgun needs to give this a look. From what I've seen, they usually go for under $300.

I've got a Bersa Thunder .380 CC, that's my main carry. (bring the .380 haters) It's a nice gun and I enjoy it. The CC has the lower profile sights, hammer, etc.

One of my customers showed me their Glock 43 single stack 9mm yesterday. I really liked the feel of it and may be getting one of those for my CC. It's small, but well balanced and with the extended mag.. a good feel to it in the hand.
