If you recall back in 2001 Vince McMahon CEO of WWE birthed the XFL, but obviously it was a bust. Maybe his baby just wasn't ready? I sure thought it was definitely interesting and I do think the NFL is a bit stale and if it wasn't for the Red zone I'd probably wouldn't watch. That being said it's rumored that it's making a comeback. I for one wouldn't mind seeing HeHateMe again.

MSB but from last week....

quote:

McMahon sold 3.34 million shares of WWE, worth approximately $100 million. That money, per a WWE filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, is meant “primarily to fund a separate entity from the Company, Alpha Entertainment LLC, which Mr. McMahon established to explore investment opportunities across the sports and entertainment landscapes, including professional football.”

Stale is a nice word for it. It's more like two week old Chinese takeout leftovers you forgot were in the back of your fridge. It's fricking terrible.

I prefer Antiques Roadshow reruns to the NFL

I have no idea why, but this is the least excited I've ever been about the NFL even if my Jags are finally decent. I just can't get into it, at all. Even if I'm at a sports bar if they have the games on I'd much rather do other things than idly watch it.

It's just not fun.

Yep, I don't know what it is exactly but I'm the same way. I grew up a Packers fan in a family of Packers fans, their game was the cornerstone of the week (and still is for my grandparents). CFB was watched but not religiously.

Over the years I've gone from watching the weekly Packers game and whatever other NFL games I could fit in, to just the Packers game and Sunday/Monday night games, to just the Packers games, to no games at all. I've watched 2 Green Bay games all year and regretted them immediately, I don't think Rodgers coming back would fix that either. On the other hand, I watch every CFB game I can and most sports fans I know, at least in my demographic, are the same way. I'm not sure when the shift happened but it was rapid and pronounced.

It's an inferior product. Fantasy was a double edged sword, it brought attention but decreased team loyalty and I cannot stand fantasy oriented shows, they're especially bad. The commercialization of the product and the attitudes of the players are nauseating. The cookie cutter nature of the league, aside from a few teams they're all basically the same thing with different names and colors - no tradition, no loyalty, I can't get excited for a Titans-Jags game (no offense to their fans) but it just means nothing to me. Absolutely nothing.

The NFL is a soggy piece of bread. It's a damp 45 degree day. It's a Kia Forte.

frick the NFL.

My mom and I have almost always been religious College viewers, ever since I was a kid. I had gotten into the NFL a lot when I had a bunch of students who loved watching it -- and would even use it to teach English from time to time.

I think a big part of it is that losses have no weight, and having a bad season doesn't affect you. When the Gators are bad, it just never stops hurting until the next season comes -- because people can talk trash all year (and rightfully should) .

In the NFL, if someone tells me my team is bad I'm like ''yeah, probably'', because who cares? Our chances of having any impact in the league are next to zero anyway.

All I do is watch bowls this time of the year since I'm on vacation, and everyone else I know does the same.

The XFL needs to grab Johnny Football before the CFL signs him.

If the NFL can't draw enough interest, more/worse football isn't going to. I'm not interested in the NFL past fantasy, and I wasn't interested in that at all this year. And the Saints are good again. I sort of follow, never watch. I'd rather watch the Belk bowl any day.

I miss the XFL. Still got my Memphis Maniax cap somewhere.

NFL really is just meh now. I haven't watched a single game all year.
