People having chickens at home is the new thing around some of the nicer suburbs in Bham. It's ok to have hens in Mnt Brook and Vestavia. Can't have roosters.
I saw a shite ton of goats in Mnt Brook the other day. Come to find out, the guy RENTED them. It's the new eco-friendly way to clear overgrown land.

I know a couple of people that have chickens...not as pets. But they eat the eggs, and their poop is apparently good for composting.
I guess they are getting more popular with the whole local food thing.
