First, I'm not a fatty and if I were it wouldn't have any effect on the question. Secondly, I'm not "jumping people's shite about drinking". The question was concerning why folks get drunk.

Dude, you're a self-righteous arse.

Why do you care why others get drunk? Why is it any concern of yours what consenting adults do in their free time? No one needs to explain their reasoning for participating in a socially acceptable and legal activity to you.

No doubt drunkenness is socially acceptable, and even admired, in certain elements of society. As far as public intoxication being legal, that's dependent on the circumstances.

And you're right that no one needs to explain their reason for drunkenness, I was just curious why folks do it. What is the benefit? As far as I can see, there is none. It's simply something an individual does in order to escape reality, escape themselves. It's sad really.

Some do it because they like to "wind down" or "relax", others, like most anything else, become addicted to it and it becomes much more than a "simple fix" or an "attitude problem"

You should google that

You seem to justify looking down on someone because they do not have the same practices on alcohol as you. Who cares if someone wants to drink in the privacy of their home or with friends, as long as they do it responsibly?

I like to run trails, watch football, and listen to music to escape reality as well. Is that "sad"?

Are you suggesting that there is a benefit to drunkenness? What benefit does being a drunk provide?

I don't trust anyone who quotes verses from the Bible, so yes, you are probably lipidenous.

But seriously, is this your Eagle Scout project?

How old are you? Were you home schooled? What is the most alcohol you've ever consumed at one time?

I'm still waiting on someone, anyone, to provide the benefit of being a drunk.

It helps you get laid. Procreation is one of the prerequisites for survival for all species on earth. There. Now stop being a bitch, and answer my questions. Are you scared or something?

Being drunk helps you 'get laid'? Women are attracted to drunks?

You're not being serious are you?

And to answer your questions....old enough to have been alive when Kennedy was shot...and remember it, no, I don't know.

So you're a super old judgemental prick that's never been drunk and hates that other people have fun.

Awesome.
