Bump.
it's about what i thought. it's not going to bring Hillary or Obama down, and it's hilarious the Poliboard thought it would.
that being said, the FBI used dubious and biased information from a political party to get a FISA warrant against another political party campaign worker. That's the absolute worst i see out of this whole thing. IF and that's a big IF this turns out to be true, McCabe (and maybe Ohr) being in jail is about as far as it should go.

Memo is a farce. This is like a bad joke. Republican party has become a joke and Trump is an anchor bringing them down and possibly causing irreparable damage to the party.
frick the ignorant trumpkins who have brought this day.

Without Trump the memo would have never seen the light of day. American people would have continued living unaware, CNN would not be melting, and Dems would not be saying it's a farce, a nothing-burger, as well as 'dangerous, ugly, and an assault on the integrity of the institutions of our country.'

If the RNC orchestrated a similar FISA scheme with help from Sessions FBI, let’s say Kamala Harris in 2020, would your response to the memo be different?

I think the memo is 50% farce and 50% concerning.
You sound a little sky screaming bro.
It’s not a party thing, it’s a “the FBI will take evidence from a poisoned tree and use it against a citizen for spying.” That’s not cool and I don’t want it happening to the liberal I despise the most.

In his mind, that would be treasonous, however he applauds the weaponization of the intelligence committee by his political party against any who oppose it.
It is, quite frankly, abhorrent and unconscionable that this manipulation of the FISA court could occur in the United States. TiM's brand of fascism has no place in civilized society.

I haven't been keeping up with this shite. Unbiased cliffs?

Trying my best to be unbiased:
GOP group hired somebody to find dirt on Trump during the campaign.
That group dropped the search. Somehow a firm named Fusion GPS had this dirt. DNC took up them on their search once Trump was lone candidate.
Firm comes out with “dossier” that has Trump and/or his people colluding with Russia for a variety of bad things.
Steele is a former MI6 agent involved in finding this info. He also has worked for FBI/CIA as an informant. From all records, he seems to have been a good source of info in the past.
Steele and/or DNC takes their findings to the FBI and says “look, trump and/or his associates are working with Russia. Collusion.”
Steele also leaks this info to (and pays) some media sources to run the story. He verbally hates Trump.
FBI goes to get a FISA warrant to spy on people in the Trump camp. To prove evidence, they reference the dossier they collected and point to the media stories that Steele gave the media.
Here comes the rub. Did the FISA court grant the warrant with knowledge that opposition research went into it and that the articles referenced were fed to the media by the opposition research? The part we don’t know there is where I think we might have some issues.
Steele, Ohr, and McCabe are our names to lookout for as they were the ones working on getting the warrant together.
Because either the FBI did not paint a full picture to the judge that allowed the wiretapping or a judge knew that and allowed it anyways.
Im open to being corrected of course. I admit I’m conservative and have my biases. I’m on the “some FBI people deserve to be fired” train not the “whole system is corrupt and everybody should go to jail” train.

It's a Republican memo so it's going to be slanted their way. I think the Republicans are making a mistake by blocking the Democrats' reponse. As said previously in the thread, the memo's purpose seems to be just more maneuvering in the Mueller investigation.

that's factually false. read the minutes of the meeting. Democrats did not release a memo till after this one was brought to order. Republicans said it will be released at next meeting and voted entirely to allow its release.
if you actually read the minutes, the group agreed unanimously to allow the memo to go forward. Democrats agreed to it because repubs said that upon review, theirs (which was introduced after the republican one) would be considered next.

the republicans would be smart to leave Mueller entirely out of their discussions. let him do his thing and invite him to probe within reason. attack the people that brought about the need for an investigation. not the investigation itself.
ETA: i'm referring to the final meeting this week. not the one earlier in the week. there was unanimous cloture on this meeting. The 1/29 was straight party lines.
and kentucker, i think you are one of the most fair and level headed posters i disagree with politically. always respect your PoV.

Likewise.

I like being a moderate because I can see the good and bad of both sides. From that stance, it appears to me that Trump and his supporters are trying too hard regarding the Mueller investigation. If there's nothing to find, then just let it roll.
Tactics like this memo only make the Democrats think they're on to something, motivating them to dig deeper. If Trump had let Comey do his job, this mess would have been over with months ago.

Democratic rebuttal calls Nunes memo ‘deliberately misleading’
quote:
WASHINGTON — A top House Democrat is challenging the core conclusion of the memo released by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes on Friday, calling the allegation that the Justice Department and FBI withheld key details as they sought a secret surveillance warrant on former Trump adviser Carter Page “deliberately misleading and deeply wrong on the law.”
NBC News has exclusively obtained a six-page rebuttal to the Nunes memo from Rep. Jerry Nadler of New York, the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, which was to be circulated to all House Democrats on Saturday.

Interesting that NBC has the counter memo already but the original was under lock and key.
