Might be because they've focused the show more and more on current events which has changed how the show is
King of the hill is still my favorite of these types though

I'll go with Looney Tunes. Its hard to beat Bugs, Yosemite Sam, Peppy Le Pew, Wile E Coyote, Elmer Fudd, etc.
I don't recall the exact figures but read years ago that the Looney Tunes artist used a staggering amount of stills per second compared to any contemporary cartoons.

On a somewhat related note, The Charlie Brown Christmas Special used to make me sad.

I loved Scooby Doo but also Tom and Jerry, Thundar the Barbarian and can’t forget Captain Caveman......
But my favorite was the Rocky and Bullwinkle show. Watched it every morning before school while eating breakfast. It had it all, heroes, villains and a dog. Natasha’s voice was kinda hot too lol

1. Adventure Time
2. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
3. Full Metal Alchemist
ETA: If you want to include animated feature length movies, there's a lot of really great ones out there made by Studio Ghibli.
1. Princess Kaguwua (sp?)
2. Summer Wars
3. Spirited Away (may be my favorite actually)
