Definitely. If Chris Capps had come out of the closet during the terrible Shula years, Bama fans would have demanded to never let a gay athlete on our football team. But that would have been more about his shitty play and the gay thing would have just magnified it.

If Julio had come out in the in 2009, I think there would be a large portion of the fan base demanding Saban recruit more kids in San Francisco.

I mostly say this because I think most Alabama fans are the stereotypical "southern baptist" types where they'll denounce and swear up and down against something, but it works they'll look the other way.

If AJ came out today I dont think anyone would blink an eye. That awful chest tat would still be his greatest offense
