Same goes for you with the liberties, but I definitely believe you about the hammerhead. No telling how big they can get!
Like the guy above said, every time you 'remember' an event, you are actually remembering the last time you 'remembered/recalled' it, and as such it will change over time, much like the game of telephone we all likely played as kids.

One morning a few years ago I was floating on a sandbar in Destin with some friends and the sun was coming up so we decided to call it a night.
Something swam between me and the shore that looked the size of a school bus. I could see a shadow of something but not enough to decipher anymore than that. It was a shark no doubt, definitely not a sand or blacktip either, it was way too big. I could feel a really strong current of water from it's wake I was that close.
Never swam faster in my life.

No doubt some details will change, but some details of memories never change. Some of those details remain as strong as the day they occurred

Yes, of course. The range seems to be from those with eidetic or photographic memories to people whose reconsolidation of called up memories is so poor that they lead to what's called "false memories." As with all things human, variation is the name of the game.
I meant earlier to include a fascinating new therapy that psychiatrists and psychologists in Europe are using to help people with debilitating phobias. They use Reconsolidation Intervention at up to a 90% success rate.
Let's say you are so terrified of snakes that the mere presence of one causes great discomfort for you. The first part of the treatment is for you to get as close as you can to a snake so that your fear is maximized.
The purpose of this step is to bring up all of your memory of the fear of snakes. It's important to have the "complete book off the shelf" for the next step.
The therapist now administers a dose of Rohypnol (the date rape drug) within 90 minutes after the first step, exposure to the snake. The patient is then sent home after a follow-up appointment is made.
At the next appointment, the patient is again asked to get as close as he can to the snake, to even touch it if possible. In most cases, the patient shows no fear of the snake and can easily touch it.
The Rohypnol prevents the patient's brain from reconsolidating the memory of fear of the snake. Now without the fearful memory, the patient can consolidate a brand new memory about that species.

I wanna know what you think you saw dammit lol
quote:
Yeah sarge, what did you see man?
I think we saw basically the same thing underwater that we saw in the sky ... and it happened about a year apart.
I've come to the conclusion, based upon what I've seen and what other military guys tell me they have seen ... that "they" are monitoring our militaries all over the world and, USOs are where the action is happening.
There is this big Gamecock fan on the boards ... goes by the username Silver Dolphin. Used to be based in Charleston. Submariner on the old diesel boats.
I've met him.in person several times ... very serious guy. He's got a couple of stories about things that buzzed them down there that will give you the willies ... up from the depths.
I've got a very close friend who skippered a destroyer ... dyed in the wool navy man - no nonsense guy a few years older than me and he says straight up that there is no doubt in his mind about things in the deep that come out of nowhere. Things they tracked that launched themselves from 15k fathoms into the atmosphere and off there screens in twenty seconds.
So I'm a believer when I combine it with what I've seen.
I know what I saw. I also know too many others, serious men who take being professionals at what we used to do for a living very seriously .... and they too are believers.
I've hot this one close friend, he used to be one of my privates decades ago straight outta Ranger School ... he retired with 27 as an E-8 and has since been contracting for about the last 15 years - first with Cochise then Blackwater Xe and he's been a Blue Badger with The Company now since 2009.
He recently told me something that he and another guy I know very well, through him, who is now contracting with the DOE out in New Mexico ... something they saw one night in the rock pile ... and it was described as the same thing I and others have seen ... even though, before just recently, he and I had never talked about anything along those lines before.
He needed to get it off his chest and once I finished hearing him out ... I told him what I had seen just to let him know there were others of us out here ... I am a believer.
I'll say this and then leave it alone.
I used to be the ultimate skeptic about this stuff. I mean I've got am above average IQ, was strictly a Bible guy ... by the book type. Then I saw what I saw and tried to rationalize it ... told myself that I never should have dropped that acid that time, or hit that mescaline, or maybe I was drinking too much at the time, had too many hard two point of contacts PLFs or something ... taken too many blows to the nugget.
But too many other military guys have similar stories to tell ... especially the squids and ice cream suit guys. And the pilots. The pilots ... it's honestly hard to find one with four digit flight hours under their belt that have not seen things ... especially the transatlantic and transpacific fly boys. Sometimes you have to liquor them up to get them to spill the beans ... but they've just about all seen things that they take very seriously.
Anyways ... it is what it is. IMHO it's the depths of the oceans where they conceal themselves - but hey, who knows. I guess the human race will find out one day. I hope I live long enough to see it ... I think .

soldiers are probably the best source of information for this subject. not to get off topic, but theres got to be plenty of stuff deep in the jungle we dont know about as well.
Ivan T Sanderson was one of the original cryptozooligists of our time and claimed to have seen some sort of pterodactyl or giant bat that tried to behead one of his crewmen back in the '30s or so.

I'm convinced our government knows way more than they claim. But I don't believe they will ever reveal it. Until they don't have a choice.

I don't know what is out there. I personally haven't seen anything. But I have heard too many seriously minded people (astronauts, pilots, police, you name it) who say they have seen things for me to disregard it. Many of them kept it to themselves for fear of being mocked. The explanations for what they have seen just don't cover many of these sightings. Either they are all liars or they actually saw something. I keep my eyes, ears, and mind open.

Now that nearly 70% of the population has smartphones, maybe some of these mysteries will begin to be solved.

his boat was a 48 foot mako tourney fisher hull with two 375 outboards
No such thing.
Biggest boat Mako makes is a 28ft.
No such thing as a 375hp motor either.

the fact we've only explored 10% of the ocean is the main reason I've never got on a boat I hear too many stories about folks disappearing off boats and ships "Well He/She was just right here a minute ago" umm theres no way in hell you can tell me that the person automatically decided to jump off into the water or stole away in a lifeboat. speaking of which anyone heard the story of the mary celeste?
The Mary Celeste was a ship found abandoned on Dec. 5th by Capt. Morehouse of the boat Dei Grattia(bound for Gilbraltar) Morehouse noticed the vessel floating in the atlantic just off Portugal he called out, but got no response so he sent a boat with a few crewmen to make sure everything was okay only to find the ship deserted of people but yet, everything else seemed to be perfectly okay. the boat was still in excellent condition and looked as sea-worthy as the day it left port. the crew had left behind all their possessions including personal papers. food. fresh water. and even tobacco which experts feel they would've grabbed even if forced to desert the vessel in a hurry.
Even stranger was the excellent state of the ship. There were no signs of violence or bad weather. Panes of glass which would have likely been broken in the event of a bad storm were still intact. Open barrels of oil were still perfectly full and uncovered without a drop spilt. By all appearance the captain and crew had just suddenly vanished. all the boats money, lock box and valuables, and the alcohol cargo were still perfectly intact as well as the last entry in the ships log from 10 day prior which seemed perfectly normal.
Clues
There were only a few things that gave any indication to what may have happened Aboard the Mary Celeste
The lifeboat was missing. But why would they all abandon a perfectly sturdy ship for a tiny lifeboat?
Some of the riggings and sails were slightly damaged, but not enough to make the boat less sea-worthy
A few of the ships papers were missing. but these would mean very little without the actual ship
They found a sword under the captain's bed which seemed to have some blood on it. But if a battle happened, why did he put the weapon back under his bed? And, if they left in the midst of a battle, why abandon the ship without a weapon?
There were strange scratches and cut marks on the bottom hull of the boat. but they did not pose any structural damage.
Theories of What May Have Happened
Pirate attack, but this was quickly disregarded because nothing was stolen
Mutiny. but if the crew mutinied, why would they abandon all their possesions and ship?
Giant Squid Attack, This would explain the strange scratches on the hull, but would the squid have killed everyone on board without any carnage or blood on the deck? And then why would someone choose a lifeboat over the sturdy ship knowing there is a killer squid in the area.

That's fricking crazy. I wish we'd hear stories like that from the last 50 years or so though.

an old highschool buddy of mine went on a fishing trip with his dad down to florida about 5 years ago he said for some reason the fish weren't real active that day. so while waiting on a bite he decided to take a small nap he was just dozing off to sleep when something brushed against the boat he looked over to his side and saw a pretty good size shark circling their boat

We are a society of normal. And when something happens or we read something that is outside of what we have been brought up to believe, alarms go off. It's how we're programmed. But as I said before, I believe there is way more to this world than we can even begin to rationalize.
