And damned if it hasn't worked. My wife used to pull that shite all the time, which led to countless idiotic, childish arguments. But as I simply ignored her more and more, I found she misbehaved less and less. I can't recall the last time she broke a glass or a plate.

Don't reward the behavior--ignore it--and they get the message that their childish tantrums just won't work any more.

If you take a phone call while other people are in the car it better be an emergency or a sub 1 minute phone call that consists only of "Hey I'm in the car let me call you back later".

Same goes for a group of people in the living room watching TV.
