I just think this is a waste of money if they do it, unless there's some real benefit from it.

We need a permanent settlement on the Moon. Natural disasters like the Tunguska Event, and the KT Extinction Event will occur again. Our chances for extinction are greater with humanity concentrated on one planet.

Getting men to the moon is not such a big deal. In fact we can get them there in record time if the spacecraft doesn’t slow down for the landing and just impacts the surface at high velocity.

It’s when people throw in getting them back here, alive, that things get tricky.

Why? Did Neil Armstrong or Buzz Aldrin forget something when they were there?
Trump's probably looking at a piece of real estate that'd be perfect for a luxury hotel.

Apparently, China is making plans to put men on the Moon. He who controls space controls the world.

China has already put life on the moon. The experiment might be viewed as a failure, but it was ingenious. The ramifications might be what has NASA scrambling about.

BGR

The experiment was a preliminary effort to test the feasibility of growing plants on Earth’s natural satellite. The lunar surface is rich in material that can be used to produce water, oxygen, and even fuel for space missions, but sustaining any kind of human presence on the Moon would require that travelers have the ability to produce their own food.

If mankind could successfully grow vegetables like potatoes on the Moon, it would be a huge step towards a sustainable existence, and China’s experiment was a small step towards that and other loftier goals.
