I'm just a poor hick farmer with a paltry understanding of the world. Don't know why you're wasting your time with me.

I'll hand it to you, your trolling skills are excellent. The key is that the difference between your serious posts and sarcasm are little to none.

Back on topic, I don't see why they can't make the helmet attach to the shoulder pads. I suck at MS Paint so I can't draw it here, but basically the helmet is big enough inside to allow turning of the head, yet padded and snug enough to limit excessive "whiplash" type movement. Open in the front with a mask for breathing. Maybe open or clear plastic on the sides for best visibility. The logo could go on the back or top. It could attach to the shoulder pads with snaps or maybe even a HANS type system in back. It would need to be a rigid structure with the shoulder pads, even padded on the top to keep down the missile strikes.
Thoughts ?

Get rid of the pads and helmets and serious injuries will subside
I have this debate with people about Rugby and Football, which is more difficult or has the more violent hits and it's because of pads that the hits are far worse in Football.
In Rugby, almost all tackles are form tackles, below the waist and more of a wrestle takedown than an actual smash.
In football, the pads and helmet offer greater planes to strike, which leads to the body jerking back and the head bouncing. I personally think most Rugby players wouldn't make it in football (if they could, they would certainly try since there's more money in it).

Football is reaching a crisis point. People are literally dying for someone else's entertainment. As big a cash cow as it is, I don't see how it continue on as is in this day and age. There is going to be a major revolution in the sport

Not the first time this has happened. Teddy Roosevelt tried HARD to make tackle football illegal
yup. 19 players died in 1905 and crippling injuries were regular.

Finally, on December 28, 1905, 62 schools met in New York City to discuss rule changes to make the game safer. As a result of this meeting, the Intercollegiate Athletic Association of the United States, later named the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), was formed. One rule change introduced in 1906, devised to open up the game and reduce injury, was the introduction of the legal forward pass

If you change the compound of helmets and pads to a foam that's a little denser than a nerf football you eliminate most of the injuries. This has been known for a couple of decades. It doesn't get done because it doesn't look as cool and takes some of the violence out of the game
Softer helmets would cause more spinal injuries.
