Oh boo fricking hoo. My point to compare it to Jim Crow is that this "OH MY GOD WE'RE BEING PERSECUTED" schtick is so far removed from the reality of what ACTUAL PERSECUTION is. It shows just how fricking ignorant you are.
Oh no! You're persecuted in a country whose corporate, military, educational, and government leadership are primarily white males! How will you ever get ahead in such a prejudiced system?!
If you somehow don't believe that being male and white is easier in the United States than being a minority or a woman then, well, you're just fricking dumb. You're not paying attention.

I'm observing this in the Zimmerman trial right now. Along with the OJ trial. We could bring up the torture and murder of the couple in TN from a few years ago as well.

Yeah, grandpa coming over and working in long hours in a factory, to my mom going from eating ketchup packet soup as a kid and becoming an office manager, and me working 14 hour days 6 days a week for 10 years to get my shite together had nothing to do with us being white.
It will have everything to do with why my future children will be educated in suburban schools and will have the chance to be one of those evil white folks in corporate management or whatever they decide to do.
Hell, maybe they'll luck out and be women.

Yup.
I don't cry about it as much as some minorities do, cuz I hate that shite too.
It really is what it is, though.

White male privilege is still a real thing.
Of course it is. How is that relevant to the discussion a hand? It doesn't change the fact that certain minority groups have a free pass to act as bigoted as they want because of some misplaced sense of past guilt perpetuated by our politicians and media.
I don't feel oppressed at all. I just feel frustrated at the double standard.

No point in context with modern persecution.

Education is how I made it. Along with parenting and personal drive.

You aren't paying attention to the new narrative in this country.

In business, people hire people like themselves. If its white men in charge of hiring, they will gravitate towards hiring other white men. I was a recruiter for three years and battled this frequently.
I worked for an organization which had an office made up almost entirely of black women. I'd say 80% black women. The office's director was a black woman.
I do agree that people tend to hire people that are like them, which is why being a white male is easier in the US, because white men are already in power in this country. There is no glass ceiling to shatter.

Red herring. Don't bring your distractions into this.

Okay. Or we could ignore isolated incidents (which prove largely nothing) and look at the demographics of our prison population.
And Zimmerman will probably get manslaughter, and nobody will be happy about it.

This isn't an issue of blame numbnuts. I'm simply pointing out the obvious - that white people have it better off in this country than black people. Period. I'm not BLAMING anybody or trying to answer WHY. I'm simply pointing out a pretty blatantly obvious fact that you seem to think isn't the case.

It's relevant in that it was a response to Wild Thang saying that white, Christian, heterosexual men are the most persecuted demographic in the country (which simply isn't true).
I'm not sure he understands what persecution actually is.

Again, irrelevant to the matter at hand. A lack of societal privilege doesn't preclude one from being a racist piece of shite.
The fact remains that regardless of privilege white people are crucified for anything that can even remotely be twisted around as racist. Meanwhile, blacks (and to a lesser degree Hispanics) can say blatantly bigoted, hateful and violent things to whites and have little fear of repercussion.
A B-list celebrity on the food network cant get a job anymore because she said "****" 30 years ago. Meanwhile, the first lady of the United States had a racist thesis IN HER GRADUATE DISERTATION and you never hear a word about it.

You wonder why this argument doesn't resonate well with black people?
"Oh really, your grandfather voluntarily came here and found work in a country that would accept him? That's great! My great-great-great-great-great grandparents were kidnapped and brought here against their will. Then this country fought a war over whether or not they should be slaves. Then, once it was determined that we shouldn't be, we still weren't given equal access to things like employment, voting booths, and education until really the 1960's, and it was all half-assed anyway. And even today we're subjected to inferior public services and an overzealous criminal justice system... But, hey! Good on you and your grandpa!"
I don't mean to condescend (okay, I do). I'm just trying to explain why this whole "yank yourselves up from your bootstraps" narrative is, frankly, horseshite coming from a white person to a black person.
Honestly, I shouldn't speak on behalf of black people because that doesn't make any sense. I'm white. I'm privileged. I don't feel bad for said privilege. I do, however, understand why some black people might be really fricking frustrated with the status quo.
