They are toning down there forecast now for Bham. Said the storms in the Gulf are blocking moisture flow into the state. Also said that wind shear would not be as strong as yesterday.

No cap. Significant change on direction of wind as it goes up and we know the instability is in place. It's muggy as hell in Baton Rouge.

Scary reading for the Northshore.

I keep having to remind myself to add another hour to these predictions. Also, the whole myth about mountains protecting us from tornadoes got shattered last night which has me more worried about today than I should be. Right now all we are forecast for is bad thunderstorms/flooding/wind damage but if you'd have told me yesterday that multiple rotation and tornadoes would be seen in the greater Knoxville area I'd have thought you were nuts. Combine that with it looking a whole lot like those storms are headed straight up to us again I have little faith in our current forecast.

Yea, I'm not seeing that either. I actually am starting to get a little nervous that it may get worse than expected.

Moisture is moving inland over MS, it'll be close. Just wait and see if it encroaches on AL

The flow should be mostly from the SW and there's nothing to impede that moisture up into Birmingham. The water vapor look does look pretty dry from the gulf, but the humidity here tells me otherwise.

More locally, there's not much wind though here right now. Makes me hopeful the Northshore won't catch it too bad with light support from the low levels.

Some of these cells are already starting to quickly develop over in Mississippi. I'm afraid we are all in for a long night.

Watching that cell around Brookhaven. That would appear to be prime territory to spin something up.

Also one NW of Baton Rouge looking nice on reflectivity.

It's a measure of moisture by gradient. It's like a topomap, but of moisture in the atmosphere.

Thanks. Is the moisture in the atmosphere good or bad for us?

It's bad. That's the fuel for storms.

Moisture is one ingredient needed for super cells along with instability and lifting mechanism.
