StarkVegas is a larger city than Oxford

From 2014 population stats
13. Starkville 24,886
14. Oxford 21,757
i would have thought Oxford was like 3 times the size of Starkvegas given the hype and the unflattering descriptions of StarkVegas by Ole Miss fans.

Starkville has good people, makes other jealous

Most of State's campus exists outside the city limits of Starkville and for decades the college and the town have been at odds with one another. That is slowly changing and can be seen in areas like the Cotton Ditrict and Downtown. Oxford is a nice town. Starkville is too. Starkville has also never tried to market itself as something it wasn't where Oxford is the epitome of pretentiousness. Everything about Oxford is surrounded in this mythical image of the town that OM people continue to perpetuate.

I am a MSU alumni, so I can (and am authorized to) make these comments.
Starkville is a small Mississippi town with lots of country rednecks and a decent college population who are attracted to a cow college offering agricultural, science, technical and engineering careers.
Oxford is a small Mississippi town with lots of country "we are better than you, regardless of who you are" rednecks and a snooty college population, who love to party down in the grove, get it on after the grove and work for Daddy when they graduate.
OM as one thing going for them. The Daddys of female OM students as a whole seemingly have more money to fund their daughter's college days and nights than MSU female Daddys, so OM girls as a whole are dressed better and have looser morals. I always thought that TV commercial where Nick Saban stops the young lady from buying a $700.00 dress would have been more believable if it had been whatever the guy who is OM's coach counseling a young OM girl student to not shop on the square.
IMO OM has more (per capita) loose women than MSU.
It is a proven fact (?) that the OM women have helped them attract football players who are attracted to loose women.
Others will have differing opinions that are equally valid.

It's called debt. Every school has kids that benefit from it. OM just seems to be willing to go deeper in to it.

both look similar to me, that is why I was surprised at the type of rhetoric their fans use about Starkville.
I like how Starkville branded itself as Mississippi's College Town. lol That is a good marketing strategy to counter the Oxford hype.

wtf do you care if you are a LSU fan?
i never said one is better than the other anyway. i only expressed surprise at learning Starkvegas has a bigger population than Oxford. I had thought Oxford was similar in size to Auburn.

Small town where everyone knows everyone. Beautiful women everywhere. Southern charm where the whole city's only purpose is to support the University.
Oxford is exactly what OM people say it is. You just don't want to believe it.

I believe, they have given the plus size women some real hope

Of course it took State to lead the way in the first place

You know how politics work. When 80% of campus isn't motivated to vote and the votes are split 6 ways and 20% is highly motivated, then the highly motivated 20% wins.

Just slap that thigh and ride the wave in.

Oxford is a small Mississippi college town. Starkville is also a small Mississippi college town.
Every big state school south of the Mason-Dixon has a ton of hot young women.
I'll give you an example of the strange neurosis most SEC fans understand about Ole Miss in general. Miss America right now, where is she from? She's from Fayetteville, and she's a sorority sister at Arkansas. Nobody really gives a shite. Its a footnote that most Arkansas alums and Fayetteville residents haven't thought about once since it happened and they did a hokey parade.
Now, if that same scenario played out at Ole Miss, I'd be linked to some cringe-worthy fedora-wearing Southron gothic bullshite about "the beauty of the women" of Oxford.
It's a big dumb state college campus, and a town square, surrounded by strip malls, and then surrounded by an unremarkable landscape for a hundred miles in every direction.
Oxford is actually a lot less than what OM people say it is. Most people who have been there know this.

I think you are getting Oxford and Starkville mixed up. No one in the history of the world has said that shite hole Starkville is nicer than Oxford. There is a reason that objective national people keep talking about Oxford and not Starkville. But State was made because of the hatred of OM. Some things never change.

what specifically makes Oxford nicer? They look similar to me.
Does William Faulkner's house make that big of a difference? lol
or is it the white columns on all the buildings at Ole Miss.
or do you prefer all the bars and local restaurants to be in central location such as in Oxford Square. Starkville restaurants and bars are more spread out.
